Brown Mayor Pro Tem Council Members David Ammann Wade Wittman Dick Casey INC,1985 THE VILLAGE OF SUGAR MOUNTAIN 251 Dick Trundy Lane Sugar Mountain, NC 28604 June 23, 2023 We have settled into our: summer routines of mowing, weedeating, and trash pickup. The roadside mower, weather permitting, is on the road! 5 days a week. He has completed one round of mowing on the entire mountain and has begun the second trip around. This entails not only using the mower itself but getting off of the machine and using a string trimmer to cut the vegetation from around signs, transformers, phone pedestals and fire hydrants. It is a very time consuming process, sO if you: see an area getting tall, rest assured that we will get to it sooner rather than later. We maintain the mowing on Sugar Mountain Drive on a weekly basis, along with the upper entrance at Grouse Moor, and areas in Mossy Creek. Trash pickup has gotten much heavier in the last few weeks and we are back to making two trips to the landfill per week. The renovations at the Maintenance garage have been completed for this fiscal year. This involved replacement of the flooring in the kitchen and breakroom and restrooms. All walls were repainted and new kitchen cabinets and appliances were installed. The men are ini the process of doing a deep clean oft the remainder of the: shop to hopefully rid the building of the dust that accumulated over the years from having a gravel parking lot. We are now able to keep the area much cleaner and neat in appearance with the paved lot. This fall we will refurbish the last remaining building on the property that hasn't been worked on. For next fiscal year we have been able to locate and have a dealership retain a new truck. There were only 3 int the entire state remaining, and no new orders were being taken on vehicles until 2025. Ifeel we were very lucky to be able to find this truck. It willl be picked up on. July 3 andi immediately put into service. A new: snowplow will be ordered to put on the truck for winter usage. Ift the rainfall would cease for a while the golf course would be doing very well. From 10 am Monday the 19th up to noon on Friday the 23rd we. recorded 8.23 inches of precipitation. The golf course was closed from Monday afternoon until Friday morning. With an improving forecast, we look forward to a busy weekend. We still receive very many customers that have never played here before and this is beginning to pay off for usas those that made their first trip here over the last few years, are beginning to return to play here again. Wel have received SO many positive comments about the course and the area as a whole. As always, ift there are any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to call me. Respectfully: submitted, Bill Daniels, Village Maintenance Director
