Brown Mayor Pro Tem Council Members David Ammann Wade Wittman Dick Casey THE VILLAGE OF SUGAR MOUNTAIN 251 Dick Trundy Lane Sugar Mountain, NC 28604 March 15, 2024 We have begun the process of cleaning out allt the paved ditch lines on the mountain and the areas where screenings have accumulated over the winter. This year we were able to rent a device called al box broom to attach to a skid steer machine. This allows us to sweep up the material on the roads and ditches and contain ity within the box on the machine. Iti is then dumped into at truck and hauled back to our screenings pile. It keeps the dust down andi is a cleaner process than using just a blower to clean the streets. Please be on the lookout for the crewi in the roadways over the next couple of weeks as they finish this project. In the last month, we have also completed the renovation oft the golf maintenance shed. Our mechanical staff has done a remarkable job over the last few winters upgrading our buildings and allowing us to work in a more efficient and clean manner. Work continues on the golf course this spring. We have installed over 5001 feet of new culvert in areas where the original pipe from over 50 years ago was still in place. We also continue to remove trees that have become too large to effectively play golf around. 4 large trees behind the 4th green were taken down this week, along with several to the left oft the 5th green. We will begin placing sod on the newly graded tee boxes and surrounds in the coming weeks. There is still much work to be done on the course to repair the pipeline project, as the winter rains washed out several ditches in the disturbed areas. Hopefully the weather continues to cooperate and allow us to get all of this cleaned up by opening day which is April 19. Respectfully: submitted, Bill Daniels, Village Maintenance Director
