J.1 Brown Mayor Pro Tem Council Members David Ammann Wade Wittman Dick Casey  THE VILLAGE OF SUGAR MOUNTAIN 251 Dick Trundy Lane Sugar Mountain, NC 28604  4/12/2024  We are thankful for the better weather we have had the last few weeks to get the mountain prepped and cleaned for the arrival of our summer: guests. We were able to rent as sweeper to use in the aid of cleaning all of the screenings off of the roadways. This was a beneficial tool to have for this purpose and we hope to acquire one in the next budget year for this purpose. I have involved my assistant Rick Norwood int the budgetary discussions this spring, and he and I have been working on preparing the budget for the publicworks department the last couple of weeks. There are several needs in our department, and we will be addressing those with you in May at the budget workshop. All oft the ditches have been cleaned out as well in preparation for being able to paint the white and yellow lines hopefully before mid May. We continue to prepare the golf course for the 50th anniversary: season. We have removed a few more trees and cleared out many areas of underbrush on the course. Sod is being picked up Monday for the new tee boxes, and we have topdressing on hand now to smooth and topdress fairways. The paving crew willl be here next week to patch the cart paths in the areas where the pipeline crossed the paths, and to resurface several other areas on the course. They will be back late May-early. June to begin patching on the roads. This last rainfall on 4/9 thru 4/11 netted 4.09 inches of precip. It was our largest rainfall since last. June. Noi issues were observed on our streets with the exception of some gravel washing into the main entrance from the side of Hwy 184, and a small amount of mud from the parking lot project at the Branches. With this amount of rain, this was to be expected and was less damage than we figured tol locate. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
