From the opening day of April 21st through July 13th we have seen an increase of $22,333 inr revenue in comparison to the same period of April and July 2022. There have been 111 less Tennis: The Tennis courts opened for the 2023 Season on May 15thand we have seen many new players this season. There has been a small increase in revenue of $911 in comparison to May rounds played this season in comparison to this same period in 2022. through. July13, 2022. Tourism Development Authority (TDA) Board Meeting: The TDA Board met on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. The Board continued discussion on a quote received for installation of a re- tractable awning with the Village logo on the golf pro shop deck. The Board requested further options on the logo as to placement before approving for purchase. The Board also discussed installing decorative lights in the golfand tennis parking areas. The Board approved the purchase of eight decorative lights and banners for all season's activities to be installed in the golf clubhouse parking lot. Mark File submitted the attached. June 2023 marketing update. The May 2023 collections oft the occupancy tax: showed a decrease of 65% in comparison to May 2022. The occupancy tax collections fort the period. June 2022 through May 2023 ($883,269) have shown a $177,173 or 16.71% decrease in comparison to the same period of 2022 ($1,060,442). Courtyard by Marriott - Sugar Mountain: The developer has applied for a Special Use Permit for the Courtyard Marriott at the Grandfather Center. The Board of Adjustment will hold a meeting on Tuesday, July 25th at 10 am. As reported previously, the plans for this site began in mid-2020. At that time, Four and I discussed with the developer Sugar Mountain ordinance requirements, including architectural standards, height limitations and parking requirements. The architect has incorporated all ordinance requirements into the plans. A hotel was planned on this site in the development of the Grandfather Center. It is a permitted use in the C-B Commercial Business District with a Special Use Permit issued by the Board of Adjustment. Reserve I: A developer has purchased the remaining parcel in Reserve I. The engineer/general contractor for the developer has submitted zoning compliance permit applications for three buildings, with four units in each building. These three parcels were a part of the original plat approved int the development of Reserve II. The buildings will be the same design, material, and color scheme as the existing buildings in Reserve II. The remaining property will be developed as The Village has received an application from the developer for the major subdivision for Reserve IIbuildings 22-36. The Planning Board will meet on Wednesday, July 26th to begin review and FY 2023-24 Budget: With the adoption of the FY 2023-24 budget, both the Police and Public Works Department have purchased vehicles for their respective departments. The Police Department has taken delivery of a 2023 Dodge Durango and Public Works a Ford F-60 truck. Summer Grillin'& Chillin' Events: The summer Grillin' & Chillin' Events continue every Wednesday this summer through Labor Day, September 4th. The events are every Wednesday from 5:30-8:30. Wednesday, July 19th will feature thel band "The Collective". This ist the seventh year oft the event and attendance continues to grow. With the excellent food prepared by Shelly and Keith Lane, and the great entertainment that has been contracted, these summer events add much to the Village summer season. Property Tax Collections: Of the $1,380,138 total 2022 levy, $1,374,478 or 99.59% has been collected with a balance of $5,661 uncollected through July 13th. A balance of $2,058 remains uncollected for the 2013-2021 tax years. The 2023 tax bills will be mailed to all property owners November Municipal Election: The candidate filing period for the upcoming municipal election in November opened on Friday, July 7th at noon and will close on Friday, July 21st at noon. The Village will havei the Mayor and two Council seats open fori four-year terms this election year. Officer Thomas Guinn will be resigning his position with the Police Department on July 21st. Officer Guinn has accepted a position with Avery County Sheriff's Department. The Village has made a conditional offer of employment with two applicants and the Police Department staff is working on the applicant's background and certification paperwork at this ine early August.
