Play! has slowed following the Labor Day holiday weekend. Throughout the month of September, the course will be busy with several tournaments. From the opening day of April 21st through August 31st we have seen an increase of $40,559 or 8.6% in revenue in comparison to the same period of April through August 2023. There have been 12,634 rounds played this season in comparison to The Annual Sugar Mountain Golf Classic was held Saturday and Sunday, August 26th and 27th, with sixty- two players competing in four flights. The tournament was called on Sunday after seven holes of play due to rain. The seven holes completed on Sunday were added to the Saturday round scores for a cumulative total to determine the winners. The overall Club Champion with ai first round score of 66 and a +1 second round, was Christian Baily of Boone. Tourism Development Authority (TDA) Board Meeting: The TDA Board met on' Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Robin Morgan, Director of the Avery County Chamber of Commerce, attended the meeting to introduce herself as the new director fort the chamber and to present the new membership options to the Board. The Board will continue discussion of the membership options at the October meeting. The Board approved Budget Amendment #1 in the amount of $45,0001 for the purchase of decorative lighting in the GolfandTennis Club parking area.
