Golf Operations: The season ended following play on Sunday, October 22nd. Bill Daniels and his crew have put the course to "bed" for the winter months. Golf maintenance staff are rebuilding several tee boxes and improving drainage on the golf course as weather permits. The course had ar record season with 17,000 rounds played and an overall increase in revenue of $74,503 ora 12.37% increase for the 2023 season (April 21st-October 22nd ($676,673) in comparison to the Tennis Operations: Tennis also finished with another busy season, with the courts closing for the season after play on Sunday, October 15th. Tennis saw a slight increase in revenue of $418 or 1%1 for the period May 15th through October 15, 2023 ($41,706) in comparison to the same period in 2022 ($41,288). Leigh Morrison, who has managed our Tennis operations for the past 24 years will not return next season. Leigh has made the decision to work for the Resort in Food Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Board Meeting: The P&Z Board met on Wednesday, October 25th. The Board completed the review of the preliminary plat for the Reserve I; buildings 22-39. The engineer for the project presented a plan, following input from Bill Daniels at the July 26th same period of 2022 ($602,170). Service on at full time basis. meeting, on the stormwater issue involving the culvert that flows to the top of Briarcliff Road from the Reserve II. Carolina Water still needs to address an exposed sewer line that is currently in the culvert. The Board made a recommendation to forward the preliminary plat tot the Council forc consideration ofa approval at the Council meeting on November 28th. The Board also discussed the need for an amendment to our ordinances to address land disturbing activities involving steep slopes. The Board will discuss a draft amendment at their meeting on Wednesday, Tourism Development Authority (TDA) Board Meeting: The TDA Board met on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. The Board approved the 2024 Golf and Tennis Beautification contract with Phil Sisco Landscape in the amount of $29,910. They also approved the 2024 Village Flower Beds and Maintenance contract with Phil Sisco Landscape in the amount of $28,940. The Board adopted FY 2023-24 Budget Amendment #2 for $100,000 in funding for improvements to the pump station and irrigation lines on the golf course. They approved a $1,000 sponsorship of the YMCA's Reindeer Run in Banner Elk on December 2nd. Following discussion of the 4th of July fireworks, the Board approved funding of a deluxe display of 18 minutes in length with JECO Pyrotechnics in the amount of $27,000. The Board recommended to the Council the re- appointment of Jim Fitzpatrick, Janet Anderson, and Tristan Bowen as a regular member of the TDA Board for a 2-year term; January 2024-2026. The occupancy tax collections for the period October 2022 through September 2023 ($868,077) have shown a decrease of $171,878 or 16.53% decrease in comparison to the Village Hall Construction Debt: The final payment on the loan for the construction of Village Hall was made on October 11, 2023. The original loan agreement was entered into in October Wildlife Educational Brochure: A "Protect our Wildlife" page has been created on the Village website and can bet found at httpsseesugar.com/wildlife. Village staff have created al brochure with educational information obtained from the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. The brochure will be mailed to all property owners in the upcoming weeks. It will also be included in the Village new property owner's information packet and distributed to property management Decorative Street Lights; Golf and Tennis Parking Lot: Public Works staff have completed the installation of seven decorative streetlights in the Golf and Tennis parking lot.
