The Board continued a review of the Village ordinances pertaining to the Commercial Business and the Multiple Use Zoning Districtsregulations andi requirements and will makearecommendation for an ordinance amendment to the Council upon completion of the review. The Board has recommended an ordinance amendment to be forwarded to Council for their consideration to limit the maximum height of buildings and structures to 35', taking out the consideration for the average grade level of the parcel and increase the front setback requirement to 80'-100' in both Tourism Development Authority (TDA) Board Meeting: The TDA Board met on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Dalton Kilby, Bramble Media & Marketing presented a market plan and proposed contract to the Board. The Board approved a six-month contract with Bramble Marketing ini the amount of $3,200 per month. Mr. Kilby will take on marketing and promotion of Sugar Mountain for the Village with the resignation of Mark File. The Board also approved Visit NC Co-Op programs in the amount of $13,500. The Board will hold a 2024-25 budget meeting along with their May 8th regular meeting. Mark File submitted the attached March 2024 marketing update. The February 2024 collections of the occupancy tax showed a 1% increase in comparison to February 2023. The occupancy tax collections for the period March 2023 through February 2024 ($859,352) have shown a decrease of $141,420 or 13.72% decrease in comparison to the same Golf Course: Golf Maintenance personnel continue preparing the golf course for the opening of the 2024: season on Friday, April 19th and celebrating! 50years! Tri-County! Paving hast begunn repairing 2024 Tennis: The opening day for the 2024 Tennis Season will be Wednesday, May 1st. As the weather permits, staff have begun preparing the courts for play. The estimated time from the start of Village Street Repairs and Paving: Bill has met with Tri-County Paving to examine Village streets in need of repair and resurfaced this Spring. Department ofTransportation (DOT) Biannual Cleanup Drive: The NCI DOTI has begun their biannual cleanup drive April 13 -27, 2024. As in the past, volunteers are needed. To volunteer, send an email to: Billboard Tynecastle Highway: Four Eggers has prepared the summary: judgement motion regarding the billboard on Tynecastle Highway that was damaged during a severe weather event in September 2021. The Village advised the property owner that because of the extent of the damage to the billboard, by Village ordinance he was prohibited to replace the sign. To date he has not complied with this order. A Property Tax Collections: Of the $1,410,225 total 2023 levy, $1,387,437 or 98.38% has been collected with a balance of $22,788 uncollected through April 12, 2024. A balance of $3,667i is still uncollected fori the 2014-2022 tax years. Taxes were due by Friday, January! 5,2024 and have now begun to accrue interest and penalties. Tammy has sent out delinquent notices to all property owners with past due accounts. The notice, as required by law, gives them 30 days to pay the taxes due and all interest and penalties that have accrued by April 1st. All remaining unpaid taxes have been advertised in construction to completion is a year.
