MOUNT AIRY, NORTH CAROLINA CLOSED SESSION November 18, 2021  MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Ron Niland, Commissioners Jon Cawley, Tom Koch, Marie OTHERS PRESENT: Darren Lewis, Hugh Campbell, Lizzie Morrison, Gene Rees, and Bryan  Wood, Steve Yokeley, and Joe Zalescik  Grote  CLOSEDSESSION:  -  a) Pursuant to NC6S145-316.1(0)0) Economic Development  Mayor Niland opened the meeting and turned it over to Lizzie. Lizzie gave a detailed power point presentation highlighting the potential development that includes a hotel and conference center. Lee and Judy Mills contacted Gene Rees about building town homes along Franklin Street to compliment the development occurring on the Spencer's site. Estimated home price would be $250,000. - $325,000. This area would need to be rezoned to R6 to meet City zoning requirements. Lizzie spoke about the benefits ofdowntownliving. Parking was a huge topic that would needed with the additional development in this area and it would only compliment the downtown area. Many options were discussed even the possibility of a parking deck.
