Johnson Mack Powers, Mayor Sandra Roten, Town Clerk BOARD OF ALDERMAN Regular Meeting Minutes August 10, 2021 The Lansing Board of Alderman met at Town Hall for their regular monthly meeting on August Those present by roll call were: Mayor Mack Powers, Aldermen Jim Blevins, Matt Cordell, Anita Also attending were: Town Clerk Sandy Roten, Maintenance Supervisor Larry Blevins, and 10, 2021. GLAD President Dick Greenwood. 1.0 Call to Order and Welcome Mayor Powers called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and welcomed everyone in attendance. 2.0 Approval of August 10, 2021 Agenda Ar motion was made by Alderman Blevins to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried with a 5-0 favor. 3.0 Review Minutes for Approval Mayor Powers opened the floor for a motion to approve the July 2021 Regular Meeting Minutes or amend if necessary. A motion was made by Alderman Cordell to accept the minutes as presented. Motion carried with a 5-0 favor. 4.0 Finance Report- None 5.0 LPCCA - None 6.0 G.L.A.D. Dick Greenwood reported on Bingo in the Barn. Good attendance was recorded on July 1st and July 29th. Several people came from West Jefferson, new visitors to Lansing, and first-time attendees made up the crowd. At Bingo on August 5th, we asked the visitors to mask up. We had 18 attending that night and sold Our Music in the Park on July 31 featuring "Rock Bottom" was a success. We had donations of $775 and concessions of $375. On August 21 we will host music by concessions with our break outside. "Cabin Creek." The Ladies of Lansing has $1,000 in ads with work continuing. Our mural is delayed but we still plan to start work soon, 7.0 LVFD The fire department plans to pave the section in front of the fire pit. They are asking for some help from the town in the amount of $5,000. This would increase parking for the town. A motion was made by Alderman Blevins to give $5,000 toward the paving project. Motion carried with a 5-0 favor. 8.0 Public Comments 9.0 Other Business Park rules were discussed concerning the campground. All Park rules also apply to the campground. These items will be added for the campground: 1. Not responsible for accidents. 2. Swim at your own risk. 3. No lifeguards on duty. A playground committee report was given by Alderman Greenwood. They are getting quotes for the equipment. Equipment is very expensive, such as, a slide Ad discussion of the American Legion ball field was made. The town is interested inf forming a partnership with the Legion, we would like to know if the Legion would be interested in letting the town maintain the field and share the use of the field also. Alderman Blevins will write a letter asking about this suggestion. Itwas also discussed about having "movies in the park." Alderman Blevins visited Damascus to view their movie night that they have.
