TOWN OF HERTFORD SPECIAL CALL ZOOM MEETING TUESDAY,JUNE 29, 2021@. 6:00 p.m. FERTFOND The Town Council ofHertford convened their Special Call Zoom Meeting on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Earnell Brown. The invocation was offered by Mayor Brown. COUNCIL PRESENT Jackson (arrived late). STAFF PRESENT OTHERS PRESENT Facebook and Zoom viewers. QUORUM Mayor Pro-Tem Hodges, Mayor Earnell Brown, and Councilman Mimlitsch. Councilman Manager Pamela Hurdle and Clerk Olga Simpson. A quorum of(4) was present and established. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: The purpose oft the meeting was to approve the Trash/Recycling and Cemetery contracts and Mayor Brown's use oft the community building on. June 30, 2021. TRASH RECYCLING CONTRACT Mimlitsch Seconded. Roll Call Vote: Mayor Pro-Tem Hodges (Yay) Councilman Mimlitsch (Yay) Mayor Brown (Yay) Councilman Jackson (Nay) CEMETERY CONTRACT Mayor Pro-Tem Hodges Motioned to approve GSL Trash and Recycling Contract. Councilman The Motion to Approve GSL Trash and Recycle and Recycle Contract passed (3-1). Mayor Pro-Tem Hodges Motioned to Approve the Cemetery Contract. Councilman Mimlitsch Seconded. Councilman Jackson thought the meeting would consist of Manager Hurdle giving Council information and recommendation. He did not know there was going tol be a vote to approve the contract. There were numerous complaints for two or three years. His issues of concern were the numbers that were agreed to as well as whether the company would sublease the work to another company. Manager Hurdle stated the company who is bidding will be the ones performing the work. ACCESS COMMUNITY CENTER Councilman Jackson had concerns about the youth center being designated as the youth center side. He wants toi it in writing from the insurance company that the stove would not be an issue as it was in the past as well as the issue ofhaving children being on the same side as the stove. The town manager will provide oversight for the usage oft the building. Mayor has indicated there will be no children ini the building on June 30, 2021. Mayor Pro-Tem Hodges Motioned to allow the mayor to use the building at 6:00 tomorrow night. Councilman Mimlitsch Seconded. Roll Call Vote Mayor Pro-Tem Hodges (Yay) Councilman Mimlirsch (Yay) Councilman Jackson (Nay) Mayor Brown (Yay) The Motion to allow the mayor to use the building at 6:00 tomorrow night passed (3-1). Councilman Jackson has requested a special call meeting to discuss the issues oft the request fora truck by public works, Ms. Sharion being given an old car with a leak, and the sheriff's department taking 11 cars from the town of Hertford, just to have spare cars. Mayor Brown stated the purpose is outlined in the three agenda items. She asked Councilman Jackson toj put in writing specifically the concerns he would like to discuss and give Council an opportunity to respond. At that time, Council can possibly have a special call meeting, we can have discussions interchangeably, with the sheriff's department, and most importantly, we havea contract.
