He spoke to the grants the Town had applied for, Parks and Recreation Projects, and upcoming lane closures. Commissioner Craver thanked those in attendance. BUDGET FY24-25 PUBLIC HEARING: Motion by Commissioner Scarola, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Kenjuana McCray, and Finance Director Drew Holland, made himselfavailable for questions regarding the budget. carried unanimously to open the public hearing, for the FY24-25. Budget. There were no questions from board members. Mayor Bellflowers asked members of the public to speak for or against the budget. There were no comments from the public. Motion by Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Kenjuana McCray, seconded by Commissioner Scarola, and Mr. McLaughlin commended the board on their input and ideas regarding the completion of the Mr. Holland outlined all oft the changes from the proposed budget to the final version. Commissioner Scarola asked if$500 had been moved to the Hope Mills Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Holland stated that it had not been moved since there was no consensus from the board to do Commissioner Marley stated that the tax increase was much needed in order to fund the pay study. carried unanimously to close the public hearing for the FY24-25. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Eileen Grimes, a representative oft the Cumberland County Board ofElections shared information regarding a new initiative that would allow residents that would turn 17 years of age before November 5th to be poll workers in upcoming elections. She spoke to the wages being offered and training for the role. Commissioner Scarola asked what the wage was. Ms. Grimes stated that the pay was $150 a day, but elected officials or their spouses could not be Ron Lance a resident of Hope Mills expressed concerns for the children in Hope Mills amid the ongoing issue regarding SRO's in schools.
