A BRIGHT FUTURE  TOWN OF HOPE MILLSI BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS  Meeting Agenda = June 17, 2024 7:00 p.m. Regular Meeting  Mayor Jessie Bellflowers called the Regular Meeting oft the Hope Mills Board ofCommissioners to order on Monday, June 17,2024, at 7:00 p.m. and welcomed those in attendance.  STAFF PRESENT  Town Manager Chancer McLaughlin, Town Clerk, Ashley Wyatt, Deputy Town Clerk, Coronda Regan, Police Chief Stephen Dollinger, Finance Director Drew Holland, Human Resources  Director Leeanne Carlucci, and Public Works Director Don Sisko  PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE  Mayor Bellflowers led the pledge ofallegiance. ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS OF THE AGENDA unanimously, to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion by Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Kenjuana. McCrayseconded. by Commissioner Scarola, and carried Motion by Commissioner Legge, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem. Dr. Kenjuana McCray, and carried  unanimously, to move Item 4 Presentations on the agenda up to. Item 2.  PRESENTATIONS:  Police Chief Stephen Dollinger presented Veterinarian Dr. Dean, Pet Supplies Plus, and Commissioner Joanne Scarola with plaques for helping to care for the dogs in the K-9 unit free of Mayor Bellflowers read into the record the Proclamation recognizing Amateur Radio Week.  charge.  CLOSED SESSION  Motion by Mayor Pro Tem Dr. McCray, seconded by Commissioner Legge, and carried unanimously to enter into closed session pursuant to. NCGS 143-318.11 (a) 0 Attorney Client Privilege, NCGS 143-318.11 (a) (5) Land. Acquisition, and NCGS 143-318.11 (a) (6) Personnel.  At 9:15p p.m. Mayor Bellflowers called the regular meeting back to order.  Regular Meeting June 17,2024    Motion made by Mayor Pro Tem Dr. McCray, seconded by Commissioner Marley, and carried unanimously, to seal the minutes ofthe closed. session until such time as the release ofthe information would no longer frustrate the purpose oft the closed. session andj further no action  was taken.  OFFICIAL COMMENTS community events.  Town Manager Chancer McLaughlin highlighted portions of the managers' report and upcoming Commissioner Legge thanked Town staff for their work on the. Juneteenth event over the weekend. Commissioner Craver spoke to the implementation ofal Homeless committee and advised that a representative from the county would be coming to speak to the issue at a future board meeting.  Commissioner Scarola echoed the comments about Juneteenth. Commissioner Craver thanked those in attendance. Commissioner Scarola thanked those in attendance.  Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Kenjuana McCray also spoke about the weekend's events and commended  staff for their hard work.  Mayor Bellflowers thanked those that were in attendance at the meeting.  PUBLIC HEARING:  Motion by Mayor. Pro Tem Dr. Kenjuana McCray. seconded by Commissioner Scarola, and Tim Evansa a representative of the property, spoke ini favor oft the item, addressed certain Commissioner Crave asked why the zoning designation was R5 instead ofl R6.  carried unanimously, to open the public hearing. logistical features and asked the board for their support.  Town Manager McLaughlin stated that the R5 designation was consistent with adjacent property.  Seeing no additional public comments, the hearing was closed. carried unanimously, to close the public hearing.
