Amendment for Cost Increase Background The City of Gastonia initially executed the first Charlotte Area Transit System Gastonia Express Bus Contract in 2001. A new contract is executed each fiscal year (CATS) beginningon July 1st and ending on June 30th. The Gastonia Express (85X) Route still maintains the second MiglstidenatipofaICATS Express Routes andi its ridershipi remains steady. For your review and approval, a copy of the FY 2016-2017 contract agreement is attached. Ridership on the 85X Route has been decreasing slightly since FY 2008. FY 2016-2017 ridership isp projected to decrease slightly from last year, however cost are projected tol bethesame. This year she has a request for to hold ita at the Rotary Pavilion instead of closing Main Avenue for the event requested as in pasty years. The eventi includes vendors, live music, andt the: zombie walk. In Fridays, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28, 5:30-8:30 p.m.: Proposed Fall JazzFest in Center Park coordinated and hosted byt the City with the assistance of the Downtown City Gastonia Merchants Association (DGMA). Three jazz bands with aret tentatively scheduled: thel Booker Wilson Band and the York Chester regional Middle followings School. Jazz Collective, the, Jazz Symphony featuring John Alexander, and Lopez & Flute Praise. The last Fridayi is planned as aj jam session Booker' Wilson Band and Tommy Lopez & Flute Praise. The event featuring will be the coordinated with downtown restaurants to offer picnic-style, take-outs DGMA will sponsor a merchant stroll during each concert.
