Exhibit Report The display mannequin featuring a female Staff Sergeant is Guy Nelson has a contact, LtCol Jess Hawkins who is retiring and moving away in the next few weeks, would like to donate her uniforms. Rich Hazlett stated the uniforms would be welcomed. Pam Holder provided the Treasurer's Report dated February 6, 2024. She noted the inclusion oft the Capital Outlay and itemized the Summer Camp 24 expenses as three Chromebooks, drone kit and cost for half of the simulator. The simulator expense from last year was a down payment with There was discussion regarding the available balance according tothe Budget report and the remaining balance oft the Armistead Funds, including whether or not the funds can be invested. Pam Holder stated there are restrictions and procedures to utilize the funds. City Manager, Chris McGee also reiterated that there are legal statutes regulating the investing of the funds by a state agency. The funds cannot be invested and the balance will not change unless utilized by Jimmie Green made a motion to accept the February6.2024 ECAHE Budget Report. OLDI BUSINESS A. 2024 Gala: February 23, 2024 Coll Mike Huber will be the speaker with the title "An Aviator's Journey to Eastern North Carolina". Col Huber is planning to speak Pam Holder gave an update on the sponsors list in reference to new commitment and payments. There was discussion with Board Members Adam Persky stated D2 Flight Academy in New Bern will be donating an hour's worth of airplane rental time for him to utilize during the aerial Tom Braaten reiterated we need to push for more sponsorship commitments with less than two weeks until the event. The Single Marine Program has been offered 30 seats to attend the Gala. Tom) Braaten presented the menu from" The Flame for review. Raffle tickets willl be sold at the Gala for $5or 5f for $20. Board Members are needed to sell raffle tickets. Raffle items include a plane ride and framed aircraft photo. Summer Camp July 22-26, 2024 "Hovercraft Heroes" Tom Braaten noted the Armistead family had sent an email in reference to a 6th grader who was interested in attending camp. Mary Beth Fennell will contact Dean McGhee about getting him accepted into the middle school camp. Mary Beth Fennell stated the applications are live and Pam Holder added there has been one application sO far. A teacher recommendation was also received for a student who has not yet Misty Guthrie will not be able to teach this year due to another commitment; however, a replacement has already been found. Mary Beth Fennell reported the curriculum is under development and In regard to scholarships, Mary Beth Fennell mentioned that Pam Holder reached out to all the elementary schools including Annunciation and Gramercy to inquire ift they would like to nominate ones student for a scholarship. Pam Holder also spoke to the AIG teacher and told them we could support up to 10: students; however, the AIG Director was not sure about her funding yet. applied. everything seems to be progressing well. D. Middle School Summer Camp Mary Beth Fennell said the middle school camp will be open for applications today. They willl be doing two camps, an aviation camp and engineering camp. The engineering camp is titled Special OPS. The high school camp will offer two, two-day sessions with one Tim Clark inquired ifthere was recruiting for the military schools during the summer camps at the high school level. Mary Beth Fennell focusing on 3D printing. stated she did not believe SO, but could ask. 3. NEW BUSINESS A. 2024 Family Fly-In STEM Night Adam Persky reported that the Development Committee reviewed the calendars for the Carteret and Craven County School System as well as availability at the TEC and made the recommendation of] hosting the Family Flyin on. August 9th. This would enable the event to take place prior to the start of school in both counties. After discussion the Board moved to approve the Development Committee's recommendation tol hold the event on August 91,2024. Tom Braaten also stated the Development Committee recommended to not have a movie showing and offera additional STEM stations as provided last year. After discussion, the Board moved to approve the additional STEM stations in place of the movie. Guy Nelson made a comment that in terms ofa future look at the portfolio, there could be more focus on the Global War on Terror era for advertising and displays. MEMBER COMMENTS Barry Fetzer reminded the Board of recent events involving a Marine H53 helicopter and loss off fivel Marines.
