CALMEFINOTOORDER Chairman Adam Persky called the Eastern Carolina Aviation Heritage Foundation (ECAHF) Development Committee meeting to order at 3:30 pm on May 7, 2024 at the Havelock Tourist & Event Center, Havelock, NC, with a quorum present. B. APPROVAL OFMINUTES Chairman Adam Persky presented thei minutes tot the committee for their review and approval. Tom Braaten made ai motion to approve the March 5, 2024Development Committee minutes with no corrections. The motion carried unanimously. . Gala 2025- - February 21, 2025 C.OLDE BUSINESS Adam Persky discussed progress on securing a speaker for the 2025 Gala. Tom Braaten mentioned that Mark Meno had submitted an information flyer regarding requestinga guest speaker from NASA. He also noted that Christina Koch had spoken at Onslow Tom Braaten reported that Pam Holder and Mark Meno have been working on the application. An apparent impediment would be that one of the questions asked is if the event is a fundraiser and if so the application may not get approved. There was discussion regarding providing an explanation of use off funds generated from the Gala. Additionally, NASAI has ai requirement that anyone who would like to attend to see the astronaut speaker would be allowed. Further discussion ensued pertaining to the logistics ofi meeting the requirements such as holding multiple speaking opportunities at Tom Braaten suggested moving forward with the application; however, keep in consideration other speakers. Options could be an FAA Air Traffic Controller or Barry Fetzer recommended as suggested drop-dead date of August 31, 2024 for response OfNASA to move on to the next option for a speaker. At that point the communication would be open with NASA explaining the timeline and coordination with the summer engineering camps. Pam Holder stated there are 5 teachers, 31 returning and 21 new, and they: are working on Pam Holder reiterated that Duke Energy and two individuals had paid scholarships. Two scholarships were: accepted byt two elementary schools and two students requested scholarships for a total of4. The AIG program had 31 total students. Members of the Blue Angels will also be in the booth. ECAHF flyers for Fly-In will be distributed and ECAHF: pop up banner willl be displayed. D. NEW BUSINESS Fly-in August 9, 2024 5:00PMt to 7:00PM The flyer for the Fly-In has been developed and included in the packet. Pam Holder reported the Police Department has agreed to participate with distributing free school Adam Persky asked ift the same booths as last year would be utilized. Pam Holder stated the request for support had already been submitted to Cherry Point with assistance from Rhonda Murray. Tom Braaten mentioned returning booth participants should have Pam Holder mentioned last year'ssponsors willl be contacted again for donations. Barry Fetzer stated the ABC Printing is no longer printing the ECAHF newsletter; therefore, the newsletter was printed by Staples. He thanked Pam Holder and Dianna Dianna Vaccarelareportedap phone call wasi received from Stephanie Reynolds, Director of the Cherry Tree House on base, requesting summer activities for her day care students. She was interested in STEM activities either at her facility or the ability to bring the children to TEC as well as tours oft the TEC. Richard Hazlett was given her contact information to coordinate tours of the" TEC. Pam Holder mentioned: she could reach out to Michelle Smith and Randall Lewis to see if they would be interested in working as a team. Any other activities outside ofat tour would have tol be coordinated atal later time as heri initial dates requested conflicted with the Fly-In ands she mentioned she had other activities booked but needs to fill in some dates.
