Town of Hamilton Board Call meeting November 21, 2019 Morris Lynch Center 6:00 PM Call to order by mayor, prayer by Commissioner Williams, and pledge flag by all. Public Comment Citizens Ms. Linda Goodrich asked for specifics of the meeting and Patricia Morring wanted tol know about the meeting in order to comment. Attorney Richard James stated that the Mayor and Board need to discuss the issue before being discussed in open session. He assured the public that if any action is taken it would A Motion to go into close session to discuss agenda item personnel issue by be done in open session Commissioner Williams and second by commissioner Everett. 5-0. No action was taken in closed session. Back in open session Mayor asked Mr. James to explain the law as it applies to the issue Mr. James states that he reached out to School of Government in Chapel Hill and spoke with an expert on public employment law in North Carolina and she states that by law an employee can earn 240 hours of comp time all over 240 hours it becomes overtime pay. It does not: require ai resolution or motion. All that is required is that employee and the town reviews hourly records and determine any compensation the employee is entitled too. The statute of limitation is 2 years. If the employee separates from employer then he will be No other discussion the mayor asked for a motion to adjourn Special Call Meeting.
