Town of Hamiltom Regular Monthly Board Meeting August 2, 2018 @ 7:00 P.M. absent due to illness. Presemt: Mayor; Commissioners: Williams, Staton, Freeman and Jackson. Commissioner Everett Meeting called to order, welcome and reading July 12, 2018 minutes by the mayor. There were no questions, or addendum to the minutes. Commissioner Freeman motion to approve minutes as Old Business: Mr. Freeman reports repairs to lift station completed. The Town Hall front clock not working and because it is old cannot get parts to fix it. One suggestion is to remove front Mayor states the motion by Commissioner Everett at the May 3, 2018 board meeting to give donation to the Roanoke River Partners project did stand; as no alternative motion was made; therefore the vote did count and check was written to Roanoke River Partners for $18,750.00 paid New Business: Ms. Mary Greene spoke to the Board informing them that ALZNC name has been changed to Dementia Alliance of North Carolina. Name was change to better address the She thanked the Board for allowing the organization to use Morris Lynch Facility for their meetings and up coming walk. The walk to defeat Dementia will be October 13, 2018. She also asks the Board to make a donation to the cause; Bronze level $500.00, Silver level $1000.00. She states that $10,000.00 was raised in 2017. See information attached to August 2, 2018 minutes. A motion by Commissioner Freeman that the Town donate $500.00 at the Bronze Level to Dementia Alliance ofNorth Carolina; the motion second by Commissioner Staton. Carried 4.0. Ms. Patricia Morring questions why minutes and budget have not been posted on the website. Commissioner Williams states that the website is still being developed and that he will contact Archer Development LLC- owners Mr. Wallace Parker and Ms. Muriel Parker came before the Board and presented their plans (in power point) for the old Baptist Home which will be converted into the Hamilton Veterans Community Village. Ground breaking will be scheduled and plans for the renovation should begin around the end of] November 2018. Mayor thanked Mr. Parker and stated that this project will be good for the Town. See Agenda attached to August 2, Mr. Freeman, maintenance supervisor, received award from ElectriCites for no work related Commissioners' Report: Mr. Freeman states that he would like to see the Town Hall Clock fixed. Will call Rogers Clock and find out what can be done as far as upgrading which could cost read and motion was second by Commissioner Staton.
