Presentation of elevation of drawings and floorplans for building projects- Legerton Architecture. Mitchell Soren from Legerton Architecture stated that he came back this week to incorporate the comments that he got at last week's meeting into the drawing. He stated that the doors were added to the vehicle shed and the interior door has been added between the wash bay and the Parks & Recreation building. He also said that on the vehicle shed we did double check the sizes (heights) of the vehicles that we received from the public works director. Discussion Followed: Cost on doors will be reported at next month's council meeting. Update on design for Highway 25 Corridor Improvements project-Ben Cathey, McGill & Associates. Ben Cathey of McGill & Associates gave an update on the Hwy 25 Corridor project. Discussion Followed: Town Manager Mark Biberdorfstated that on Wednesday morning Eric andIare going to spend al lot of time on this making sure these decisions are moving forward. Approval of lowest responsible bidder for street resurfacing projects -Jabbo Pressley, Public Works Director. Public Works Director Jabbo Pressley discussed the bids they received on March 30. Tarheel Paving was the lowest bidder and when we got to reviewing the bids they had an almost $18,000 mistake on their bid but despite that they still were the lowest bidder. Discussion Followed: He stated that they are going to place notices on the doors of the residents that will have their streets paved to make them aware of when the paving will take place. Councilman Bob Davy made a motion to approve Tarheel Paving for the street resurfacing project and it was seconded by Mayor Pro-Tem Eddie Henderson. Presentation on financial consulting: services-Tyler Traudt, First Tryon Advisors. Tyler Traudt gave a presentation on the services that First Tryon Advisors can offer to the Town of Fletcher. Discussion Followed: Councilman Bob Davy stated that he likes this idea Comments from the Town Manager Mark Biberdorf. AtTown Hall day I had forgotten to mention the letter from Laurel Park on Senate Bill 94 concerning partisan elections. They are working on a bill in the senate to: force municipal elections to be partisan elections. Iwas not sure how council feels about that. Discussion Followed: Town Council is not in favor of partisan elections. On the Shred event we collected 3020 Ibs. of shredded paper. No numbers on the West Generation Network yetIhave an email into Erica at Land On the Howard Gap Road Improvements- -Iwas disappointed to find out that the project from the bridge up to 25 that was going to be let for bid in. August of this year has been changed to. August 2018 and it has been moved up to the division level. I called and this project has been assigned to a Wanda Austin in the division level. They apparently had lost some files and they have had some turnover recently. There is no reason why this should be delayed. Would you like for me to talk to Ed Council has requested that the Town Manager discuss this with Mr. Greene. The town received a: request to change the name of Frady Lake to Rutledge Lake from a Matthew O'Donnell of US Board on Geographic Names (BGN). It was stated in the document that the request was made by a Gathal Cogdill owner of Rutledge Lake of Sky. Greene the Division Engineer about this? RV Park. The bids came in from Tarheel Paving, JLS Company LLC and Trace and Company. Tarheel Paving &. Asphalt Company was the lowest responsible bidder on the project. Ben Cathey called me on Friday to say that the we had an error on the bid with Tarheel Paving. The road repair part on' Thorncrest Drive was incorrectly listed as $ 1,999.00 and it should have been $ 19,990.00 which would give us a total of $220,093.00 for all the repairs. Discussion Followed: Council will take action on this on Monday at the regular meeting. Presentation on financial consulting services-Tyler Traudt, First Tryon Advisors. Town Manager Mark Biberdorf: stated that this came up when the newspaper article came out on our town center project. Iwas contacted by' Tyler Traudt of First Tryon. Advisors services and they providing assistance with financial packages and proposals and they do financial modeling. They are paid on a project by project basis. He will be here on Monday to make a presentation. Discussion Followed: Discussion and approval ofapplicant to fill current vacancy on Planning Board in District 1-Mark Biberdorf, Town Manager. Town Manager Mark Biberdorf stated that council has the applications for both individuals in their packet. You met them at the meeting last month when they introduced themselves. You have Lucas. Armefia and John Olsen that have submitted applications. Discussion Followed: Council has selected Lucas Armena to serve on the Planning Board in District 1 and this item will move to the consent agenda for next week. Comments from the Town Manager Mark Biberdorf. Iattended Town Hall day last Wednesday andImet with Chuck McGrady separately from Chuck Edwards. Iended up having lunch with him along with representatives from Hendersonville and Laurel Park. On the Fletcher itemslmentioned that Grace Deal had submitted an official request tol Representative McGrady to introduce a bill to provide help funding the library project. The budget process is just starting to get underway. Ialso mentioned this to Senator Edwards as well. Ialso told them thatIspoke to the Board of' Trustees of the community college in late January about a training facility here in Fletcher. The water issue kind of dominated most oft the lunch meeting. Discussion Followed: Shred event and pill drop is Saturday April 8 from 9:00 to 12:00 pm. West Next Generation Network (update) - They applied for an Appalachian Regional Commission grant to help them fund part of the work they are doing and they got turned down. There may be an additional expense on this (from us and the others) to encourage some greater structure for broad band activity.
