TOWN OF GARLAND RECONVENED REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS TUESDAY,JUNE 22,2021 7:00 PM  The Reconvened Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Garland was held  remotely via GoToMeeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 7:00 pm. The following members of the Board of Commissioners were present:  Eddie Bronson, Jr. Jo A. Strickland Barbara A. Peterson Carolyn R. Melvin  Also present remotely: Mayor Winifred H. Murphy and Deputy Clerk Annette Ricketson were present remotely. Town of Garland Attorney Alan Maynard was present remotely as well as Emily' Williams from The Sampson Independent. Numerous callers were in and out of the meeting.  CALLTOORDER  Mayor Winifred H. Murphy called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and welcomed everyone in attendance. Deputy Clerk, Annette Ricketson, was present recording notes for the minutes.  QUORUM  Mayor Winifred H. Murphy and Deputy Clerk Annette Ricketson established there was a quorum present. Mayor Murphy thanked everyone for all their dedicated hard work they have put into the budget planning for 2021/2022. She stated tremendous work went into the budget planning by the Commissioners, thet total Board as well as Financial Officer Pamela Cashwell whoi is outon MedicalLeave. Mayor Murphy stated the Board voted on June 15, 2021 to approve the cemetery plots for $600.00 for one plot and $400.00 each for two or more plots and this would apply to both in-town and out-of-town Mayor Murphy stated that the Notice of the Budget meeting was published on our website and in the Sampson Independent ten days prior tot the meeting. Citizens were provided an opportunity attend and make comments at the June 15, 2021 meeting. The meeting was opened and closed with no public  CEMETERY residents.  comment.  APPROVAL & ADOPTION OF THE 2020/2021 BUDGET ORDINANCE AND FEE SCHEDULE  Mayor Murphy made recommendations to adopt the 2021/2022 Budget Ordinance as presented. Commissioner Carolyn Melvin made a Motion to adopt the 2021/2022 Budget Ordinance and  1    Commissioner Eddie Bronson seconded. There was no questions or discussion and the vote carried unanimously. A copy of the 2021/2022 Budget Ordinances will be available for review and  Commissioners will need to stop by Town Hall on. June 23, 2021 to sign them.  CLOSED SESSION  Mayor Murphy recommended to enter closed session at 7:08 pm pursuant to 6.5.143-318.113) Attorney-Client Privilege and (6) Personnel. Al Motion was made by Commissioner Carolyn Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Barbara Peterson and the motion carried unanimously. The Board returned to Open Session at 7:09 pm.
