Eidson, Will Gwyn and Tommy Wheeler. Also present: Town Manager Brent Cornelison, Assistant Town Manager/Recreation Director Adam McComb, Town Attorney Raymond Parker Mayor Bishop welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order. SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS: Police Chief Monroe Wagoner introduced the following officers: Jessika Cave - promoted to Corporal Five years' service Brian Nelson - promoted to Corporal Three years' service Matthew Scanniello - sworn in July 23,2021 Worked at our Recreation and Parks Department two years prior to being hired by the Police Department Richie Parker, Chief Executive Officer of Surry Communications, and Melanie Senter, Marketing Manager of Surry Communications: Presented a sign to the town designating Elkin as a Smart Rural Community signifying that Elkin is a vibrant community to live and do business due to advanced Droadband-enabled sources. Consider a Request from NCDOT to Approve Their Recommendation to Reduce the 35 mph Speed Limit on Elk Spur Street from the Wilkes County Line to North Front Street to. 25 mph with an Ordinance (Town Manager Acrash data report by NCDOT found that there were a number of incidents in the past few years on Elk Spur Street from the Wilkes County line to Harris Avenue that warrant a reduction in the speed limit.
