February 10, 2020 (REGULAR MEETING) Minutes of the regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the Present: Mayor Sam Bishop, Commissioners Cecily McCulloch, Robert Ball, Jeff Also present: Town Manager Brent Cornelison, Town Attorney Raymond Parker and Town Clerk Cathie Tilley. (Absent: Assistant Town Manager and Recreation Mayor Bishop welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order. He said he always enjoyed the meetings where we have Scouts in attendance. A motion by Commissioner Eidson to approve the Consent Agenda was seconded by Commissioner Wheeler and was unanimously approved. SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS Proclamation of National Boy Scout Month (Mayor Bishop): Thanked the Scouts for attending our meeting. Recognized the Eagle Scouts in attendance. Mayor Bishop read a Proclamation declaring February 2020 as Boy Scouts of America Month and presented it to the Scouts. Thanked the Scouts for the food drive and asked how it turned Collected 2,500 pounds in Elkin and 1,200 pounds in out: Yadkin County. Mayor Bishop called a one-minute recess to allow the Scouts to leave sO they could go to their meeting; then called the meeting back to order. Commissioner McCulloch made a motion to approve the statement that the application is both reasonable and in the public interest because the results of this text amendment provides necessary information in a more concise format (chart) whereby staff and the public can access it easier and quicker. This is subject to change. anything. the budget. MANAGER UPDATES (Brent Cornelison): Traffic: Spoke with Trent Beaver. Work is starting back on I-77 South. Elkin should not see any change in traffic with this work. Discussed with Police Chief Wagoner and Police Captain Tulbert. They plan to bring another police officer in occasionally to observe the intersections and make sure drivers are following the law when traffic backs up. Grant funding for this project was approved. Ronda Water: Meetings: Friday February 14th: Town Manager Cornelison, Mayor Bishop, Commissioner Ball and Commissioner Eidson plan to attend the annual meeting of the Surry County Economic Development Wednesday February 12th: Town Manager Cornelison and Mayor Bishop will attend a meeting in Greensboro discussing small Mayor Bishop will talk about the Yadkin Valley Sewer Wednesday February 19th: Town Manager Cornelison and Mayor Bishop will attend the Piedmont Triad Regional Council meeting.
