Adoption of the Agenda Council Member Jobn Guglielmi made tbe motion to qpprove the August 23, 2016. agenda, and Council Member Jery West seconded tbe motion. The motion was approved by a vote offive (5) inj favor and none opposed. 3. Approval oft the July 26, 2016 Agenda Meeting Minutes Council Member. Shirley Cagle made ai motion to approve the mimtes from the July 26, 2016 Agenda Meeting. Couneil. Member Ken Bateman seconded the motion. Discussion of Eastern Davie Sewer Council Member Jerry West asked that time be allocated for Council to discuss consideration, ifany, for Town Manager Lee Rollins gave an update oft the current status. *As of August 19, 2016, East Davie Sewer has 240,000 gallons per day of available unallocated sewer capacity. *The County of Davie has communicated via email on 10/15/15 that the Hillsdale Group has 26,596 gallons per day ofremaining capacity to allocate. *As part of the approval ofa development agreement with Davie Medical Center for their Bermuda Run campus and out parcels, 17,500 gallons per day were reserved for allocation Land use plan for Davie County does not coincide with $18 million project for new sewer plant for East Davie. The growth is not there, yet and there is not cost benefit per Mayor Rethmeier. the Town to seek sewer allocation for economic development. toward future development That 17,500 has not yet been used. B. NCDOT Letter Asking for Consideration of] Paving Needs NCDOTi is currently in thej process of evaluating Division paving needs for the 2017 paving season. If there are state maintained roads in the Town's area that council would like considered, they are to communicate to Town Manager, Lee Rollins no later than September 30, 2016. Davie County Fireman's Ball-I November 11, 2016 Town Manager Lee Rollins provided an email from Advance resident, Wendy Terry asking for the Town to sponsor the fundraiser for the Advance Fire Department. The Town uses three fire departments - Smith Grove, Advance, and Clemmons; therefore it would bei important to support all instead ofj just Council member. Shirley Cagle made ai motion to donate, 8500 to all THREE fire departments for total donation of 81500. Council member Ed Coley seconded the motion. The motion Nas approved by ai vote offive (5) inj favor and none one. opposed. 6. Council/Mayor Comments Shirley Cagle = Questioned status of Beaufurn Furniture because ofa recent news article. Itis understood that they have outgrown their current facility and arel looking for a larger manufacturing location with the help ofTerry Bralley, Davie County Economic Development. Jerry West-I Discussion about overall security within the Town, stressing that the Council needs to discuss options. It was clarified that contracting with Forsyth County is NOT an option, per Lee Rollins John Guglielmi - He shared experiences with one particular underage golf cart driver and his Ed Coley - Questioned whether Sprouts" 'isa for-profit or non-profit. Also said that hel had witnessed Mayor Rethmeier- - Mayor Ken Rethmeier posed this question to the Council -"Do we want our own Police Department?" We receive numerous complaints throughout the Town regarding speeding, underage kids on golf carts. Are citizens willing to pay for a Police Department? Council Member Ed Coley asked what minimum requirements would need to be met. Fora 24/7 department, the Town would need 10 officers. Town Manager Lee Rollins and. Town Manager Comments Lee Rollins gave an update on paving cost estimates for this fiscal year. $300,000 allocated for paving projects. Maps showing areas that are being monitored were provided. Paving is set to begin next week in the Highlands and River Hill Drive sections. The Town Manager will meet individually with any Town Manager Lee Rollins also gave an update on the Utilities Fund.
