Citizens Comments - None Public Hearing to Receive Public Comment on the Proposed 2017-2018 Town Budget Notice of the public hearing has been duly advertised in the local newspaper and has been posted on the Town website. (All Council Present/Town! Manager Absent) Action Items A. Resolution Requesting NCDOT to Reduce the Posted Speed Limits to 35 MPH. Concerns from the Council Members that were not in favor- This would be considered a "speed trap". Enforcement oft the speed limit would be a factor. Council members in favor argued that this is a safety issue with increased pedestrian/bike activity, and additional traffic from businesses such as Bermuda Quay shopping center. References made to Mocksville, Council MemberJerry West made a motion to approve the request ofthe new. speed limits. Council Member Rick Cross seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a vote ofthree (3)i infavor (M. Ernst, R. Cross, andJ. West), and two (2) opposed (E. Coley and.J. Guglielmi). B. Municipal Agreement with NCDOT for Construction of Pedestrian Bride to Replace The Municipality shall participate in the costs ofthe pedestrian bridge project in the amount of $250,000. Both parties understand this is the total participation amount for the municipality and Discussion - Thel bridge is gated/locked now. This will allow access to the lakes and is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity according the Mayor. Town Manager Lee Rollins has spoken with Bill Burnette who has assured that the Town will be given the lakes, and the only way to get to them is via this bridge. Ifthis agreement isn'ti reached, the bridge will come down. Council MemberJohn Guglielmi made ai motion to approve the agreement with Council Member Jerry West seconding the motion. Rick Cross - Prayers for Town Manager Lee Rollins (who has been out on sick leave) and all ofthe Mike Ernst - Suggested that the Town send E-blasts regarding the traffic on 158 caused by I-40 John Guglielmi - Thoughts and prayers for Lee. Encouraged Council to support Cindy, and give lunch Jerry West - Thoughts and prayers for Lee and support staff. Concerns about turns being limited on Mayor Rethmeier - Informed Council that he will put a schedule together of who is available by phone - ifon schedule, check in. (Mike Ernst asked that they contact Cindy first to see what she needs.) Gave an update on Lee Rollins, saying information was being provided by Melissa (Lee's wife), and Regarding the recent EDC Strategic Planning Session with Terry Bralley, it was made clear that Davie County needs a solid sense of direction.
