Call to Order Mayor Ken Rethmeier called the meeting to order. 2. Adoption of the Agenda Council Member John Guglielmi made ai motion to adopt the agenda. Council Member Mike. Arrived at 9:23 am and was. not present Chris Burcaw with LinTaylor Marketing Group provided an outline for a proposed branding program for the Town of Bermuda Run to support Comprehensive Plan Strategies 1.2, 1.4, and 1.5. Chris is currently working with the Bermuda Run TDA on a marketing plan. In his presentation to the Council, he discussed tactics and budget using "Just Be" as al key phrase for marketing. NOTE- - Council. Member. Mike. Ernst left at. 9:35 am due to. a schedule conflict. 6.A.' TA-2018 & REZZ 2018-01 Town Center District Repeal and Master Plan Overlay Strategy 2.3 of the Comprehensive Plan is to "reclassify the existing Town Center (TC) Zoning District to Commercial Mixed (CM) and Village Mixed Use (VM) to facilitate more: realistic development potential. Include a' "Master Plan Overlay" that requires conditional zoning for all new development to ensure overall development cohesiveness and the fulfillment ofl land use and infrastructure goals and strategies." These text amendments would make procedures less rigid by changing thej process from Quasi-Judicial to Legislative. The Planning Board recommends approval. The Town Council is requested to set a public hearing for] July 10. Council Member John Guglielmi made ai motion to. set a Public Hearing for the July 10, 2018 Council Meeting. Coumcil Member Jery West seconded the motion. The motion 1as approved by ai vote off four (4) inj favor and none opposed. B. Three-Year. Agreement for Services with Benchmark, CMR with a cost ofl living adjustment based on the CPI for) years two and three. The current three year agreement is set to expire June 30, 2018. This agreement was for a billable hourly rate of $68.00 an hour. Thej proposed billable hour agreement is for $70.00 an hour (3%i increase) Commcil Member John Guglielmi made a motion toj plae for consideration on the Jume 12 Council Mecting Agenda. NC Certified Retirement Community Program Mayor Ken Rethmeier shared the basics oft the program with the Council, stressing that should build upon what we. have inj place in the Town (medical, sports, retirement *Bermuda Village), and that we should stay diverse. Ton Manager. Lee Rollins will! present mext steps at the Jume, 2018 agenda meeting. B. Planning Board Member Appointment to replace Christy Schafer Council MemberJery West made ai motion to move. Planning Board Member Lym. Senger from "alternate"toj fll-time member; and to add Tom Brady as an alternate member of the Planning Board to fill Chisly. Schafer's vacangy. Council Member. Rick Cross. Seconded the motion. Tbe motion was qpproved by a vote offur (4) inj favor and mone opposed. The proposed budget is available for viewing at the Town Hall. Itis also posted on the' Town's website. C. Proposed 2018-2019 Town Budget Al Public. Hearing will be beld at the June 12 Town Coumcil Meeting. 8. Council / Mayor Comments today was energizing. Rick Cross- Thanked Christy Schafer for her service on the Planning Board and advised the other Council Members to be thinking of suggestions for future board members. Said the marketing presentation Chris Fomler- Thanked Christy Schafer for all that she's done for the Town on the Planning Board. He John Guglielmi- - Expressed that he hates to see Christy leave the Planning Board and wished her well. Jeny West- Shared personal experiences in trying to get businesses to use "Bermuda Run" instead of "Advance" as their address. He also suggested a brainstorming session to prioritize upcoming projects for the Mayor Rahmeir--Informed the Council that he will not be present for the June Agenda Meeting due toa personal matter. He thanked Christy Schafer for her service to the Town and for her demeanor as she's brought things to the Council. He gave an update regarding the Davie Medical Center. He shared that the' TAC has approved thel Blue Heron Trail, and that he and Lee Rollins have met with a representative oft the Bank oft the also apologized for being late to the meeting. Council. Ozarks about their vacant building. 9. Town Manager Comments Lee Rollins reminded the Council that the second of the Sounds on the Square Concert Series is on Saturday, May 26 at7 pm. A decision willl be made by Thursday on whether to cancel due forecast of rain. He also commended Cindy Griffith for completing her second week at the NC: School of Government's Clerk Institute.
