Rethmeier, DrPH; John Guglielmi, Rick Cross, PM. The meeting was held at Bermuda Run Town Hall. Mayor Rethmeier - Thanked everyone for the dialog during the meeting. There is a lot to do to market the Town. He gave an update regarding the Davie Medical Center in Bermuda Run. hopes that this will expand. to all of Bermuda Run inj years to come. DFI shared the financial analysis and their Lee Rollins, Town Manager shared with the Council that at present, the Town has no debt. He also met with the Hillsdale Group who shared that they may be interested in partnering on the project. After the presentation, all Council agreed that public participation would be a feasible option. Mayor Rethmeier reminded the Council that the project will stimulate other commercial activity within the Town. Mike Ernst requested to meet with the Sports Complex staff in order to get a better DFI will present the proposal at the August 28 Council. Meeting that will be moved from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. August 6, 2018, the Davie County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution indicating its support for approval ofa a one-quarter cent sales tax proposal on November 6, 2018 referendum; and fire protection for the entire county; and WHEREAS, the Davie County Board of Commissioners has the responsibility to provide WHEREAS, a four cent ad valorem fire tax is currently imposed on all Davie County WHEREAS, the fire tax is distributed among independent fire departments for fire WHEREAS, the Town of Bermuda Run corporate limits is served by the Advance, Clemmons and Smith Grove fire departments through the Davie County fire tax; and WHEREAS, the Davie County Board of Commissioners has communicated the passage oft the one-quarter cent county sales and use tax would help prevent an increase in the property tax burden on home owners and local businesses in the providing of public safety to the county;and WHEREAS, if passed by voters in November, the Davie County Commissioners will direct all funds generated to go directly to support public safety (fire, the Sheriff's Office, property owners; and protection; and Emergency Services, and 911/Communications); and WHEREAS, groceries (unprepared foods), prescription medication, gasoline and motor WHEREAS, it would take a 1.78 cent property taxi increase to match the same revenue WHEREAS, sales tax allows both residents who do not own property, along with visitors vehicles would not be subject to the one-quarter cent sales tax; and amount that the 1 cent sales tax would generate; and in our area, to generate sales tax revenues to be used to support public safety.
