Bermuda Run Town Council AGENDA MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, April 23, 2019 9:00 a. m. - Town Hall Council Members Present: Mayor Kenneth Rethmeier, Rick Cross, Mike Ernst, Chris Fowler, John Guglielmi, and Jerry West Council Members Absent: None Also Present: Lee Rollins, Town Manager; Cindy Griffith, Town Clerk; Brian Williams, Town Attorney 1. Call to Order Mayor Ken Rethmeier called the meeting to order. 2. Adoption of the Agenda Council Member. Rick Cross made ai motion to adopt tbe agenda witb Council Member. Mike Emst seconding tbe motion. The motion was qpproved by a vote offive (5) inj favor and none opposed. 3. Approval of the March 26, 2019. The motion was approved by a vote offive (5) inj favor and none opposed. 4. Citizens Comments - None 5. Items for Consideration A. Presentation - Proposed Purchase of Bermuda Village Representatives ofl Montage Living and BB&T Specialty Housing Group (Ryan Lambert, and Steve Coma) presented plans to purchase 85 units from Bermuda Village. Grey Angell and Scott Hanes of Bermuda Village were also present to answer questions by the Council. Grey Angell explained that he plans to: remain part oft management at the Village, but feels that this non-profit is thel best way to go: for affordable, long-term senior care. No increase in services provided by the Town are expected. Council asked about communications with the residents and were told that a dinner is planned for May 9. All units being sold are currently full, and the current agreement with Bermuda Run Country Club (Club Corp) remains. Concern was shared that nearby independent property owners may feel that their property values may go down; however, this should not be the case. Council Member Jery West made ai motion to bold a Public Hearing regarding the. Purchase of1 Bermuda Village at the May 14 Town Council Meeting. Council Member. Rick Cross seconded tbe motion with the motion qpproved bya Montage is hoping to close on the purchase on May 31. vote off fve (5) inj favor and none opposed. B. Presentation -Davie County Public Library Initiatives Jane Blue, Director of the Davie County Public Library provided an update oft the current initiatives. She shared that they are currently wanting to add trustees from both the. Advance/Bermuda Run area and the Cooleemee area. They currently have a remote. location in the Cooleemee Shopping Center, and desire a location in Bermuda Run as well that would also provide others services such as voter registrations, Family Promise, meeting spaces, etc. Possible location would be the old Bank OZK building Or the empty building that used to contain aj pharmacy. C. Proposed 2019-2020 Town Budget Town Manager, Lee Rollins shared the proposed Budget with the Council and will make an official presentation at the May 14 Council Meeting. There is no significant change in the new budget. He will ask that a Public Hearing on the budget be set for June 11. 6. Council/Mayor Comments Rick Cross- - No comment. purcbase of Bermuda Village.
