Public Comments Jane Blue with the Davie County Public Library shared the new' "Books and Barrels" event that will be held on1 the third Thursday of each month from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm. PUBLIC HEARING- Zoning Map Amendment 2019-03 The applicant Bob Hodges requests ai rezoning from RM Residential Mixed to CM Commercial Mixed in order to develop the property commercially. The site is 2.55 acres. The applicant owns the adjoining property to the south at 169 Yadkin Valley Road. The applicant states the request as the "highest and best use" for the property in question. This is an expansion of the CM zoning district located on three sides of the site (see zoning map). Andrew Meadwell presented details about the proposed amendment. Mayor Rethmeier Opened the Public. Hearing Steve Sexton of207 Yadkin Valley Road expressed that hel lives adjacent to the property and welcomes growth, but would like to see conditional use. He does not want area to resemble Clemmons, and would like office space instead of more retail. Jim Snider of3 325 Yadkin Valley Road shared his concerns about the neighborhood and possible water run-off. He wants something the community will bej proud of. Council Member, John Guglielmi made a motion to defer, as the amendment needs additional consideration. Council Member Mike Ernst. seconded the motion. Presentation - Davie County Senior Services Director, Kim Shusky -] Davie County Area Aging Plan Aging Plan Project has been a 9-month effort in which Council Member Rick Cross has been involved. The plan is for the next five years, focused oni many areas that affect the aging community. Town Manager, Lee Rollins recommended for the Town Council to consider a $50,000 commitment to IGNITE DAVIE to be paid at $10,000 per year for five years. This investment is an economic and community development investment that represents one percent of current property tax revenues and Council. Member. The Mayor then shared slides regarding his career with the United States Navy and how those experiences gave. him the desire to be involved in the growth and development in his community.
