PUBLIC HEARING- Zoning Map Amendment 2019-02 Shugart Enterprises LLC has applied toi rezone a 71.56-acre tract of land from Open Space (OS) to Residential Mixed (RM). The subject property is located behind 470 NC Hwy 801 N. and is further described as parcel oft the Davie County Tax Map C7000001108. Andrew Meadwell spoke oft the project and informed the Council that the Planning Board has unanimously voted in favor oft the amendment. Mayor Rethmeier Opened the Public Hearing. Vera Williamson of 229 Haywood Drive, Advance, NC: spoke as ai resident whose property adjoins the affected area and shared her concerns regarding increased traffic and questioned whether it would be just single-family homes or multi-family. She asked the Council to consider deferring the vote for one: month since her neighbors were not aware ofthe Public Hearing. Andrew Meadwell provided follow-up to the questions. Greg Garrett, Representative of Shugart Enterprises LLC, 221 Jonestown Road, Winston-Salem spoke about the property saying it was owned by the Moravian Church. He explained that the plans are: for 79 single-family homes (starting ini the $250,000 price range) and 71 patio homes ($230,000 price range) ini the development. Run Comprehensive Plan, specifically the objective to. support steady, managed growth with additional residential and retail development and consider the action to be reasonable and in the public interest.
