Update with Davie County Sheriff, J.D. Hartman Sheriff Hartman provided and update of activity in the Bermuda Run area as well as all ofDavie County. Also present with him was Community Officer Jason Robertson who has been ptomoted within the Sheriff's Department. His replacement, Zach Williams was: introduced to the Council. Sheriff Hartman shared that the activity within the department will be increasing soon due to Court going back into session (disruption due to COVID-19). He also shared that there will be financial impacts due to the pandemic. Mayor Rick Cross stressed the importance of awareness (blinking speed sign), peer pressure, and enforcement. B. Street Paving History Maps Maps are provided to where street paving has taken place in previous years. Grey Engineering is working to produce recommended areas for the proposed 2020-2021 budget. C. - U.S. Hwy 158/Ivy Circle Fence Line Planting Concept Miller Landscape Architecture is working to provide a landscape concept for the fence line with cost estimate. The Town Manager shared a preliminaty design for information only. Low-maintenance options were top priority, and cost options for the project were discussed. D. Braydon atl Bermuda Run- - Anticipated Request for Voluntary Annexation The developer for Braydon at Bermuda Run has requested paperwork to petition annexation. Although the petition has not been received and no action is requested from the Town Council at this time, provided for Council's review is a preliminary analysis of! projected revenues and expenditures if the development were to be annexed. E. Status OfNCDOT Funding for Blue Heron Trail Project Due to the financial restraints within the NC: DOT, thel Blue Heron Trail project has been put on hold. They originally were going toj pay 80% as part ofal Federal Highways Project, per Town ManagerLee Rollins. 6. Council/Mayor Comments Chis Fowler- Was glad to see. Sheriff Hartman and tbonght his presentation was very informative; sad to. see Oficer Robertson go but wisbed bim well on his promotion. Mayor Rick Cross answered the questions by saying that the newy ommers at Bermuda Village bave already made mgjor improvements by investing in renovations to the facility. There bave been a lot ofp positive reactions by the staf and residents. The. Farmers Marketis NOT operated by tbe Town; bowever, they bad to relocate de toa ded, conflict with tbe landommer of the prior locations. The. Sports Complex has completed all ofils! permitting process and bopefully, construction will begin Soon. Mayor Rick Cross-. Shared positive news tbat Maddie Cakes is expanding, adding to tbe kitchen and adding a parly room. Davie Coumly and. Bermuda Run bave a very bigh response rate for the 2020 Censws, but we. still need to encourage everyone to participate. He has been in contact witb. Suganne at Davie Counly. Healtb and Human Services, and tbere bas been a dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases over the last 10 days. These are mainly Samily clusters"and tbere is also more testing being done. Residents whose businesses are making masks were discussed. He continues to speak with restaurants and local businesses who are doing a great job adapting to the recent restrictions.
