Liberty Street, Shamokin Wants to ask questions tonight, what Is the status oft the $72,000 Grant. At this point iti is to be used for the Legion Building. We havel had this since he was the Mayor. Whati is the deadline on this grant? Mr. Slaby has had numerous conversations with multiple people, and he needs to ask council ifthey would like to get the roof fixed immediately or try to getar matching grant. Mr. Milbrand wanted to go to DCED and see about getting a matching grant, Per ACT47 we should be on the front oft the line for grants. The Legion Building needs al Fire Alarm System, Elevator and new Roof. Wants us to go to DCED and aski ifthey have any improvement grants. We can use this grant as al match for any other grants. What is the status of bringing someone on to do: some grant work for us? Mr. Slaby stated that we have no funds Tim Vincent - The kickoff for the General Community Service starts the 16th of] June in Coal Township. Working Monday and Wednesdays in the City. They will be painting the tank int the City, in our. ACT47 Grant for this. hel has the paint. Bill Stewart- Been a farmer: all his life, would like to extend the farmers market hours on Independence Street. Hei ist there Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. He is the only famer downtown on' Tuesdays and' Thursdays. There is another farmers market starting in Elysburg, and would not like the Shamokin Farmers market come to an end. Believes that extending the hours would benefit Joseph Leschinskie - Believes that extending the hours would benefit the Farmers Market. Ithink by changing thet time to 2pm we would compete with other farmers markets in the area. Wel have sO many buildings downtown that are vacant would not liket to see another thing leave the area. Stephen! Druckenmiller- Access to the Ordinances, has been asking for several years to access to the Ordinances, He had to fill out al Right to know to get access to an Ordinance. According to Act67 all the ordinances should be in Mr. Slaby's office during normal business hours with no prior appointment needed. Thirteen years he has been asking to see ordinances hel has yet to see. The other issue he wanted to touch on is the Blight and Vacant Properties. Hel knows there is an effort being made and there is some grants that were issued and being used. From 2011-2014 we only used $24,000 were used during this time, per the Act47 book. Mrs. Dixson stated we only have the City and the Farmers Market. 20161 money left to spend on Blighted Property's. We are not taking aggressive steps, we are not condemning properties, we: are just listing them as unfit. Ifit is listed as unfit they are allowedi in the property during daylight hours. More and morel houses arel becoming vacant and property values are going down and something needs tol be done abouti it. Hel has not gotten a key to access the Legion yet, just one more reason to get the roof fixed in the Legion. Someone is going around and busting the swings at the parks. We willl hopefully get them replaced this week. We willl bej putting in: al Baby Changing table at the Library. Free Lunch Starts the day after school starts, ifyou can lend al hand please do.
