MINUTES REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 16, 2013 6:30 P.M. PAGE 1 100309 ASSEMBLY Council of the Borough of Tarentum met in regular session on Monday, September 16, 2013, with Councilman President Tim Rappi Councilman Vice- President Hugh Fox; Councilman Raymond Kerr; Councilman Eric Carter; Councilman Tim Firko; Councilman Mike Gutonski; and Councilman Pete Varos. Also present were Mayor Carl Magnetta; Borough Manager William Rosseyi Solicitor David Strellec; and Chief William Vakulick. LOVASIK Mr. Lovasik, West Tarentum, stated nothing has been done to remove the cars that he brought to Council's attention last meeting. He stated Council needs to do something in West Tarentum about the horrible conditions of the alleys. Junk is thrown everywhere. He stated West Tarentum needs to be cleaned up period. That would be a good incentive for the landlords to Councilman Rapp stated, under President's Comments, on August 28, met with the Borough's Engineers to discuss the status of the projects going on in the Borough. On September 5, attended the Recreation Board meeting. He stated on September 7, he was invited to Natrona for their kayak launch dedication which was very clean up their properties too. PAGE 2 100310 Councilman Rapp asked for a report from the Mayor Magnetta stated for the month of August 2013, there were 315 calls for service which is a plus 39 from 2012; 37 arrests which is a plus 7 from 2012; 148 citations issued which is a plus 51 from 2012; total accidents 8 which is a minus 4 from 2012, accidents with injuries none; fines collected $3,127.77 which is a minus of $2,447.20 from 2012; fines collected for year $47,686.60 which is a minus $10,770.70 from 2012; parking tickets issued 79 which is a plus 49 from 2012. Borough Manager Rossey stated Council received a copy of a Harrison Township ordinance having to do when properties are sold, that any code violations or anything that needs to be done has to be addressed before a sale can take place or if a sale does tak ke place, the owners are given a time period to correct any violations. Solicitor Strellec stated the Harrison Township ordinance can't stop a sale, but it can fine the seller if the seller is aware of pending violations or existing fines and doesn't tell the buyer.
