PAGE 1 6r 472 MEETING ASSEMBLY Council of the Borough of Tarentum met in regular session on Monday, October 20, 2014, with Councilman President Tim Rapp; Councilman Mike Gutonski; Councilman Eric Carter; Councilman Tim Firko; and Councilman Raymond Kerr. Also present were Borough Manager William Rosseyi Solicitor Charles Clark; and Police Chief Vakulick. Councilman Fox, Councilman Varos and Mayor Upon motion by Councilman Gutonski, seconded by Councilman Kerr, RESOLVED, this Council approves the Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting of September 15, 2014. All Council members present were in favor and the resolution was adopted. At this point in the meeting, Council invites Magnetta were absent. REMARKS: COUNCILMAN RAPP Councilman Rapp stated, under President's Report, Councilman Rapp asked for a report from the Chief Chief Vakulick stated, under the Mayor's Report for September 2014, there were 428 calls for service; actions necessary calls were 284; 28 arrests; citations issued 113; total accidents 8; fines collected $8,162.50; fines collected for Chief Vakluck stated discussions are being held with the school district to put a resource officer in the school for a couple hours a week. From the discussions, it looks like this may be a possibility. The hours and compensation for the resource officer has not been determined at this that he had no report for the month. of Police. He stated he is working on the application for the properties on West 7th Avenue to get the exemption granted. He stated discussions are being held with the Seman Company regarding an old bill for work that was done and not done and trying to settle the matter. He stated the code officer is signed up for further classes the first of the year which include fire inspections and handicap Councilman Gutonski stated he feels that the code officer deserves a raise for completing the schooling and furthering his education. A discussion was held regarding the work the code officer is doing and his continuing education. Council decided it was best to wait until the budget was presented and any raise in salary would be after the budget was passed. accessibility inspections. Upon motion by Councilman Rapp, seconded by Councilman Kerr, RESOLVED, this Council grants the Recreation Board permission to close Corbet Street from 2nd Avenue to 4th Avenue, on Saturday, November 29, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., to hold a "Christmas on Corbet" event. All Council members present were in favor and the Councilman Rapp stated instead of having Christmas in the Park this year, the Recreation Board wants to try it on Corbet Street and this is due to the icy weather during last year's event with the closing of the main street. resolution was adopted. He stated last month he attended the meeting, but this month's meeting on Wednesday, he can't attend. He stated someone from Council will need to be actively involved for the COG meetings. The meetings are held at the Harmar Municipal Building. He stated the minutes of the last meeting and new agenda are in the mailboxes Councilman Firko stated he is on that committee and will attend the COG meeting on Wednesday.
