Agenda correction should say September Minutes. Motion carried. Correspondence: 2023-2024 Road Salt Contracts are as follows: SHACOG (Cargill, Inc.) contract cost is $85.85 per ton. Motion Mr. Nolan, Mr. Spencer awarding the 2023-2024 Road salt contract to SHACOG at $85.85 per ton. Motion carried. COSTARS Purchasing Alliance (American Rock Salt, Inc.) contract cost is $82.55 per ton. Motion Mr. Spencer, Ms. Henkel awarding the 2023-2024 Road salt contact to COSTARS at $82.55 per ton. Page 3 Allegheny County Election Department will be using the Borough Building for a polling place for the General Election on November 7, The HIV/AIDS Awareness Walk will be held on Saturday, October 7, Citizens Reports: Chris Marino-1451 Chestnut Street, there are some potholes on Chestnut Street. Street Department will be advised to fill the potholes. Thanked Mr. Spencer for notifying Duquesne Light Company to cut the lot across the street. 2023. 2023. Council is looking to submit the paving of Monroeville Avenue in front of the Borough Building and CVS Pharmacy. The total estimated cost is $228,723.00. The Grant will be announced in the summer of 2024. Asking for motion to approve the submittal and signing the resolution and application for the LSA Grant. Page 4 Motion Ms. Henkel, Mr. Nolan approving the submittal of Monroeville Avenue to the LSA Grant application. Motion carried. Ms. Henkel- None Mrs. Tinsley- The Home Plate Garden in completed for the 2023 season. By midsummer a ton of produce was disturbed. The garden thanked the Borough for repairing the roof at the dugout. The PITT students will be volunteering to help close the garden down on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Always looking for volunteers. Mr. Nolan- None Mr. Spencer- The Police and Public Safety Committee has received a resignation letter from police officer Ross Becher. Resigned as of September 30, 2023. Motion to accept his resignation and thank him for his dedication and service to the Borough. Everyone wishing him the best of luck. Before the test in November asking for a motion to ask the State Police to patrol for various shifts. Motion Mr. Spencer, Ms. Henkel approval to notify the State Police for patrols. Question: Mr. Bianchi, Also, pursue other options. Mr. Nolan, can the Borough stop the State Police patrols at anytime. Mayor Forgie-Yes Motion carried. Police and Public Safety Committee recommending a No Parking sign at the 7th Street Playground on 7th Street and Virgin Alley. The exact location by the Playground to be made later. The concern is the safety of the Children when leaving the playground. Page 5 Motion Mr. Spencer, Ms. Henkel approving add a No Parking sign at the 7th Street Playground, 7h Street at Virgin Alley. Motion carried Solicitor- Reporting on the ongoing action with 828 Maple Avenue, Sober living house. Notified by the Commonwealth Courts to submit briefs. Police and Public Safety Mayor Forgie- Treat or Treat time in on Halloween, October, 31, 2023 from 6pm-7:30pm. Attended a meeting last week on the proposed bike trail. The plans are designed and discussions are happening with owners of properties. Thanked Council for the temporary State Police patrols. Page 6 Old Business: Ratifying payment of the September 2023 bills in the amount of $591,145.91 with the largest being the payment to ALCOSAN in the amount of $339,755.69. Motion Mr. Spencer, Mr. Nolan ratifying the action taken by the Borough Administrator in the payment of the September 2023 bills in the amount of $591,145.91. Motion carried.
