SHICKSHINNY BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES September 7, 2021 The General Meeting of the Borough of Shickshinny Council was held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in the council room ofthe Shickshinny Municipal Building. President Rosalie Whilebread Per roll call, the following members ofcouncil were presen!: Rosalie Whitebread, Jim Wido, & President's Report- Discussed Crary Street issue with the large hole that needs to be fixed immediately this can not wait until next year. This hole is not included in the current grant for Crary street and it will cost $11,500 to repair. John Ackerman, Engineer wants to exclude Iren Street from the Grant in order to repair this hole. Afier some further discussion it was decided that a meeting needs to be held with the engineer, John Ackerman and Mohawk Contracting regarding discrepancies with the Crary Street Project and funding, for it. This meeting will be set up. for the Motion to accept the presidents report was made by Candice Kruczek and seconded by. Joe called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. Candice Kruczek &. Joe Buchalski. Kevin Kruczek was absent. following week. Buchalski. Rosalie Whitebread abstained all other voted yes. Engineer's Report- attached- More discussion took place regarding Crary Street. Meeting to be Zoning Officer's Report: Report attached. Sonny discussed the report with the council members. Motion to accept the report was made by Candice Kruczek and seconded by. Jim Wido. Solicitor's Report - John Ackerman contacted Attorney Burke regarding the amount owed to the contractor. for LSA grant, it was stated that $9,200 for pay application that were approved, totaling $9,200. Auorney Burke says be mindful that this contractor wants to bej paid before continuing anya additional work. Attorney Burke stated that he did not receive the maps for Crary Street yel. He needs the maps to determine the right ofway at the top ofCrary Street. Atlorney Burke informed the council members that because the property at 125/127 West Union Street is up for tax sale it will cost the Borough around $3 or 4,000 to settle this transaction to transfer the Deed for that property. The Borough will gel some ofthat returned due to the fact that NW are school SECRETARY/TREASURERS REPORT-* Motion to accept the meeting minutes of August 9,2021, was made by Candice Kruczek and seconded by Jim Wido. Luzerne County Recycling Department will hold theira annual free used tire collection event on October 9, 2021 at the Hanover Area. Jr. sr. high school from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Northwest area Quarterback club is seeking permission to hold their parade/bon/ire int the Theg grant received from the LSA. for Street Improvements was discussed, Penn Dot State Representative Chris Geotz met with Lori to go evaluate the roads listed in the Grant, Chris suggested that the Borough repair the pot holes on each and then oil and chip all ofthem, he stated that these roads are in good shape and we would be throwing money away ifthey get repaved, by Oil and Chipping these roads you will be preserving them and it will extend their lifef for several more Diane Noss addressed council regarding concerns with the creek that runs through South Main Street, this Creek ahvays floods, DEP: states that this is a drainage ditch which comes from under Grant Street, it is not an actual Creek. Diane asked the Borough ifthey would dredgelclean it up. Motion to allow Tony Pszeniczny, Wyoming County Striders Club, to use the park as a start and finish fora a foot race on October 24, 2021. Motion was made by Candice and seconded by Rosalie expand the Ber-Vaughn Pool by creating a slash pad. park. Motion to approve the use of fthe park was made by years.
