MARCH 9, 2010 The March Council Meeting was held on 03/09/10 in the Penn Lake Community House. The meeting was called to order by President Jill Rosenstock at 7:30 p.m.with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a moment ofs silence in honor of our military. Roll Call: Jill Rosenstock, Barbara Sudimak, Frank Fritz and Jack Kile all present. Ned McGuire was absent. Also present was Mayor Bill Warner. The February 2010 were presented and plaçed on display. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Sudimak and 2nd by Fritz., roll call all in favor, none TREASURERS REPORT was presented and accepted by ar motion made by Fritz, 2nd by Sudimak, roll call all in favor none opposed, motion carried. SEE FOLLOWING ADDENDUM "B" CORRESFONDENCE WAS READ UNFINISHED BUSINESS: President Rosenstock relied that the survey for Terrace Drive had been mailed to the appropriate residents and we were just waiting for the returns. The Planning commission is reviewing and updating code ordinances and will present to the Council when completed. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Recreation- still looking to secure grant money for the Rails to Trails Summer program will run 2 weeks in July 7/12 and 7/19 Roads- 3 complaints concerning the roads. NEW BUSINESS: Rosenstock and Kile met with FEMA represents last month there are new regulations, there will be new properties in the flood plain and some that will come out. After review oft the new maps people in and out oft the flood zone will be notified. More in coming Jack Varlay met with Planning Commission to discuss changes. QUESTIONSANDOR COMMENTS: Several residents questioned the Borough's pursuit of grant money for the Rails to Trails claiming that other municipalities are having trouble with unsavory: people using the Paul Rogan wants a tax reduction for the Penn Lake Association and was questioning the ownership oft the land under the Community House. Attorney Karpovich will pursue and report in April. Mr. Rogan also asked council for its permission to hold a Wedding/Reception in the ball field. Council will check on liability and get back to Betty McGarrigan questioned the physical addresses on some tax bills. There have been some changes on some of the tax bills. Ifyou have a tax bill with a wrong address, you need to contact Luzerne County Assessors Office, 200N N. River St. Wilkes Barre, PA 18711 to make changes. Also explained was the cap that the County had set for the 1St year of reassessment (not being more than 10%). That 10% was only held for the 1St Council and all Borough Residents request that when walking your animals you kindly pick up any mess that the animal may leave. This is a courtesy to all Borough Residents Jack Glass asked again about what, if any, resolution had been made with regard to his sewer hook up fee. Attorney Karpovich explained the Borough position based on the correspondence with the prior Council and zoning officer. Discussion ensued. Council Trails.
