KENHORST BOROUGH COUNCIL MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 3, 2023 MEETING President, Jonathan Smith called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Roll call was taken, with the following Council members present: Mayor, Nikolas Hatzas, Anthony Avilla; Terry Mohler, Peter Also in attendance: Shawn Schwartz, McCarthy Engineering; Jill Nagy, Solicitor; Officer Ryan Norm Metz, 1400 Hancock Boulevard stated he is a 35-year resident of the Borough and has recently noticed several properties throughout the Borough with high grass and weeds. He asked ift the codes officer could check them out. He also expressed other concerns with regard toj people O'Brien, Jeffrey Smith, Scott Stamm, Roger Weidenheimer. Absent: none Smith Reading Police Department. PUBLIC COMMENT: not stopping at Stop Signs PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL: Approval of Minutes President Smith presented the minutes from the July 6, 2023 Council meeting for approval. Mr. Mohler made a motion to approye the minutes, seconded by Mr. O'Brien. Motion passed unanimously. Mayor: Mr. Hatzas reported the fines collected in July. BOROUGH REPORTS: Reading Police Department Report: Officer Smith presented the July police call log. He stated there were 63 calls for service in the Borough for the: month of July. Kenhorst VFD Chief Report: Chief Dwayne Hart presented the firel log; there were 64 fire calls in the Borough for the month of July. Chief Hart reminded everyone that the Fire Department Chicken BBQ: is this Sunday, August 6th from llam - 3pm. Finance Report: Mr. Weidenheimer presented the treasurer's report/P&L for July 2023. Mr. Weidenheimer made a motion to accept the report, seconded by Mr. O'Brien. Motion Personnel: President Smith stated Council will have an Executive session after thei meeting Property & Buildings Report: Mr. Mohler stated construction of the pole building is Sanitation: Mr. Stamm stated that the Borough is getting new recycling containers delivered. Mr. Hart commented they will be delivered tomorrow, Friday, August 4th. passed unanimously. to discuss this. Codes and Emergency Services: No: report scheduled to begin Tuesday of next week. Streets: Deferred to Mr. Hart by Mr. Mohler MUNICIPAL. AUTHORITY REPORTS: Parks/Playground: Mr. Stamm reiterated construction of the pole building willl begin next Sanitary Sewers: Mr. Stamm made ai motion to have. McCarthy. Engineering look at the sanitary sewers as. soon as possible, seconded and Motion passed unanimously. Stormwater: Mr. Mohler started to report than deferred to Mr. Hart for additional Solicitor's Report:. Jill Nagy, Esquire stated the Borough's Zoning Ordinance hasn't been updated since 2012 and it may be a good time for Council to consider updating "Uses week and it will provide storage for the: mowers, and etc. information.
