MINUTES OF1 THE SHADE TREE COMMISSION OFT THE BOROUGH OF SEWICKLEY February 6, 2024 The Shade Tree Commission (STC) convened on February 6, 2024, in Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Kathy Brandt at 7:00 p.m. Ina attendance were: Members Kathy Brandt, Chairperson Andrew Frishkorn, Vice Chairperson Danielle Shinsky Chris Crayton, Secretary Mary) Jablonski OfCouncil Cynthia Mullins Arborist Tyler Hunt Visitors Brian' Wolovich I. NEW BUSINESS-A ARBORIST REPORT & APPLICATIONS Tree Removal Program: Tyleri is creating a package fort trees with risk ratings of1&2, along with newi additions of risk ratings 3 & 41 that have been added toi the removal list since thel last removal package was completed. He will coordinate with Donna and Brian Tree Maintenance Program: Tyler is working with Tall Timbers to complete the pollarding on two London Plain trees that were not pollarded during their initial work. Tyler will work with Donna on preparing al bid package for pruning of Oak and Elm trees as the pruning should take place prior to the dormant season ending. The remaining pruning list (see attached memo) willl be prioritized, and al bid package willl be created by on the trees that the borough can remove. Tyler and Donna. Tyler will work on getting estimates fort the EABI treatments for large Tree Planting Program: Tyler has continued to update the GIS system with open spaces. The number oft treest to be planted ini thes spring willl be discussed between Tyler, Donna 300 Ohio River Blvd: STCI has no objection to removal of private tree. 715 Maple Ln: Arborist recommends pruning of both Oak trees identified on application. Both will be added to the pruning list, one with a rating of 4 and the other with ar rating 611 Nevin Ave: Arborist recommends removal oft the Callery Pear tree as it is an invasive 600 Blackburn Rd: Arborist is working with Donna and Brian to reduce the branches on London Plaini tree that are encroaching on the home. Tyler will coordinate the pruning 909 Centennial Ave: Borough tree (tag#! 576) has previously been added to the removal list. Tree #1289 will be evaluated byt the Arborist as application was shortly before meeting. The third tree referenced int the application is located ini the back ofthe property and is a private tree, therefore iti ist the responsibility of the property ownerto 304 Peebles St: Trees have previously been added to the pruning list. Additional donations have been received in honor of Dr. Bruce Coleman. Possible location has been identified in front of the Brittany apartments. Motion to approve.
