April24,2024 We got our LERTA approval, which was a big victory for the city, we also got a 4-million-dollar grant for Nurture Nature. We will also be filling two (2) vacancies in the code office. Reminder of the Mayor's Summer Youth Camp coming up the week ofJuly 22. The camp is open to students grades 9-12. It'sa good opportunity to get immersed in local government. Each Ferry Street demolition will start at the end oft this week or beginning ofr next week. The Vice-Presidential debate will take place at Lafayette College in September. Our police department is working very closely with security staffi in the presidential debate committee. Berwick Street Mrs. Rogers, President of Southside Civic Association Held their Southside clean up with volunteers. Mrs. Rogers went back to the park later and trash all over again. She spoke to the kids about keeping the area they play in clean. She drove by The park is in need of benches. There is no place for parents to sit while taking their kids to the park. Mayor states the benches were removed due to vagrants. Mrs. Rogers asked for the benches tol be brought back again. Mrs. Rogers also asked for the backboard at the basketball court to be Mr. Brown states when he was at the park, he noticed is Mrs. Rogers has the respect of the neighborhood. He stated the kids respond to Mrs. Rogers when she speaks to them. Mrs. Rogers also stated there could be approximately 50 kids in the park and they do not leave at dusk. Neighbors are complaining. No signs posted stating the park closes at dusk. Can we have signs placed at Pioneer and Centennial Parks.
