Chief Charmo informed council that he has applied for: a government program called" "1033 Program" whichi is through the military. Thei items included in this grant are vehicles and cquipment that the military takes out of service. Mr. Buzza reported that the S. Main Street waterline relocation is moving forward. Mr. Buzza fcels that the pump house repairs and possible replacement oft the building will need more estimates. Replacing the building altogether and installing a water. filtration system was considered. Book and Proch has built water treatment plants for towns similar in size to Bessemer. Bessemer should receive and estimate the cost ofa new plant. The Copper andl Lead Service and Waterline Inventory Project would be the perfect time to1 replacc some oft the curb boxes. Mr. Buzza suggested replacing the boxes inj particular areas where there have been candidates for water shut-offs. Mr. Buzza has qualified the new hires for the testing and routines oft the water treatment plant. He reported to council that thel Public Water Supply report was submitted on March 14, 2023. PennVest funding deals with many factors like community income and water rates. PennVest will prepare the: application for free. This route could include both grants and loans for the water treatment plant's generators. Mr. Buzza suggested that the water tank inspection could take place by renting: al lift to drop the divers in safely. He: also reminded everyone that meters on the customer's home helps get government funding and that you don't nced to measure water usage yet.
