Mr. McCaffrey was askedi ifl he would attend the next Code Enforcement Committee Meeting in Mays so that the proposal could be reviewed by the Committee before it Jr., Assistant Fire Chiefa and David Gorecki, Firefighter. comes back to Council for consideration. Citizen's Participation On/Off. Agenda Items (5 minutes per speaker) 1. Ms. Lillian Paff, 1325) North Walnut Street, thanked Borough Council and] Mayor for paving 14h Street. She questioned who is responsible for Spruce Street and she was advised by thel Engineer that Spruce Street is within the Township ofl Harmony. She also raised concerns about speeding Ms. Vera Gramba, 11441 Maplewood. Avenue, expressed concerns to Council and Mayor about safety concerns. Chiefl Mann stated that she will talk tol Ms. Gramba after the meeting in hopes of Mrs. Felicia Mycik, Ambridge Rotary Club, made ai request tol Borough Council to consider extending thej previously approved road closure for the. July Car Cruise on Merchant Street from 10th Street to 8"h Street. She presented as survey signed by the business owners in this block. She also motorists on Route 65 tot thel Police Chief. 2. 3. rectifying the matter. stated that the Rotary Club met with PENNDOT and thel Borough! Manager earlier this month to map out a location: for the new welcome sign at gth Street that thel Rotary Club isj purchasing. Shes stated that the final draft oft the downtown zoning amendment and sign ordinance is now ready for review byt the Code Committee and Planning Commission. It was also reported that the Zoning Hearing Board met this past month tol hear an appeal on the condemnation of439/441 Merchant Street. She stated that the Board denied the appeal. Lastlyi it was reported that the demolition of451 Merchant Street is currently underway and progressing smoothly. 5 Public Safety: Mrs. Drewnowski reported that the Committee met on. April 5", in attendance was herself, ChiefMann, Chief Gottschalk and] Mr. Dunn. It was reported that the Police Department ordered three new Tasers at a cost of $2,900. She also reported that Officer Seng is currently going Ity was also reported that the Borough is seeking applicants for part-time firefighter; deadline to applyi is April 12". She also reported that Firefighter Gorecki secured a $26,000 grant from Firehouse Subs that willj purchase much needed firefighting equipment. This totals over $51,000 in firefighting grants received so: far this year. Lastly, she reported that thel Fire Department Squad isi in need ofs some business tol business getting afterhours contact information per business. repairs and may have tol be replaced in the near future. Public Works: Mr. Cafarelli reported the following: Street sweeping started the week of April 4th New playground mulch was added around all oft the play equipment at gt Street Park. Graham's Tree Service finished the tree contract work and performed stump grinding. DPW planted ai new dogwood tree at the Borough Building ini thej place where thej pine tree was 2016) Road Program worki is underway on 11th Street, gth Street, Pine and 5th Street. Public Works completed repairs to a catch basin on 14Hh Street. Borough Electrician fixed the damaged traffic signal at gth and Merchant and is currently working on replacing the traffic signal heads at 5th Street and Duss. Ave. Repairs were also completed to thet traffic signal at 4t and Route 65. Ongoing maintenance has been dedicated toi filling pot-holes. Sign maintenance is on-going, replacing: missing signs and repairing damaged locations. Grass cutting of public areas is now underway. Foreman responded, marked and reported multiple PA-One Call requests. removed. Mr. Cafarelli thanked Council for purchasing the Angle Broom. Mrs. Miller requested Council to consider amending the street sweeping hours to start after 9AM rather than the current 7AM start. She stated thati if we start after 9AM, it would be after many people leave: for work. Mr. Mikulich recommended the Public Works Committee review the concept andi report back. Mrs. Caldarelli questioned if warning: notices were given out before Street Sweeping started, she was informed by ChiefMann that thel Policel Department did distribute notices onj parked cars the week Mr. Mikulich questioned: ift the keyways ati intersections would bej paved during the ongoing roadwork. Thel Engineer advised that the keyways have been built into the project specifications. He also reported that Church Street may end up being paved lasti in. June of this year after the Gas Company Parks: Mrs. Miller reported that the Rope Climber at] Panek Park wasi replaced this past month and the Public Works remulched all of thej playgrounds. She also reported that the courts atl H&H Park are Engineer's.
