Citizen's Participation On/Off Agenda Items (5 minutes per speaker) Mrs. Lorianne Burgess, 5701 Merchant Street, made complaint aboutj juveniles riding their bicycles on Merchant Street. She suggested that signs be posted advising the public that bicycles are prohibited on the Ms. Barb Costa, 1320 Church Street, stated that on. June 15",Trinity School for Ministry will be having a farewell gathering for their Dean-President who is leaving the school after 13 years andi is relocating to Ms. Felicia Mycyk, Ambridge Little Bridgers, reported to Council that the Ambridge Little Bridgers has a new coaching staff for the 2016 season. She also reported that the children are excited about the possibility ofas second season ofFriday Night Tykes and encouraged the Council to approve the agreement to authorize filming inl Panek Park. Mr. Mikulich stated that he believed the first year's 's season of] Friday Night Tykes did not portray Beaver County in a positive manner. Mrs. Miller commented that Mrs. Mycyck did an excellent job explaining our community on thel last season and online during interviews. Mrs. Drewnowski echoed Mrs. Miller's comments and added that Mrs. Mycyk has done an excellent job advocating the many positive sidewalks. England. She welcomed the Council and officials to attend. efforts and achievements within the community. Chief Larrick. She reported that high grass complaints are on the rise right now and it was discussed hiring a Mrs. Caldarelli stated that the Committee also discussed increasing the amount of permitted animals residents can have from 2t to3. She also reported that in regards to! possibly allowing chickens and bees in thel Borough, the Committee will conduct an on-line survey to see how the community feels. Mrs. Drewnowski expressed a concern that ai number oft thel businesses in the Borough need reminded ofp property maintenance code standards. She pointed out that the Code Officer should visit the CVS and] Dollar General and advise them that their lots need tol be cleaned. Mr. Mikulich added thats sO Public Safety: Mrs. Drewnowski reported that there was not a: meeting this past month of thel Public Safety Committee. She did report that the Policel Department needed to upgrade their bulletproofvest policy to remain in compliance with the USI Department of. Justice. She also reported that the Borough was able to draw down its first amount of funds as part of the COPS hiring grant. Lastly, Mrs. Drewnowski reported that the Fire Department received a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for new equipment. She thanked Firefighter Gorecki for his efforts to make this grant anniversary oft the museum. Committee Reports part-time code officer to supplement the office. should the Gas Station thati is located at 11th and Merchant Street. possible. Public Works: Mr. Cafarelli reported the following: Committee met on. May 314, in attendance was Mr. Cafarelli, Mr. Dunn, DPW: Foreman Ted Eberhardt and Manager Kauer. The Committee reviewed the 2017 Road] Program andi is working with the Borough Engineer to select what roads are tol be done with the bond project budget. Borough Electrician continues work to upgrade the streetlights on Merchant Street within the Ongoing maintenance. has been dedicated to filling pot-holes and repairs to alleys. New angle broom for the skid-steer is in and has been put to use. o Bucket Truck had ball joints replaced and was inspected. Sign maintenance is on-going, replacing missing signs and repairing damaged locations. Grass cutting of public areas, parks, right-of-ways and abandoned properties is on-going. Foreman responded, marked and reported: multiple PA-One Call requests. Mrs. Miller commented that thel LED Street Lighting upgrades in the Historic District has had a positive impact at improving visibility along Merchant Street. Mrs. Drewnowski stated thati in regards tot the upcoming Duquesne Light! program we need to determine where these new lights are to go. She recommended current dark areas so that we can help improve thej public safety in those areas. Street sweeping is underway. -b biweekly. Historic District tol LED lighting. Equipment Maintenance: 6 Mr. Mikulich stated that Columbia Gas has recently dug up freshly paved Kennedyl Drive to repair a gas leak. He directed thel Engineer to contact Columbia Gas so that this sitei is restored to the Borough'ss specifications. Mr. Cafarelli stated the Borough should consider imposing at time restriction on how long the utility providers have to restore street openings within the Borough. Parks: Mrs. Miller reported that Borough Park looks great. She also stated that the Borough is waiting tol heari ift the grant toi improve the gth Street Park Playground will be awarded or not. Mrs. Miller also reported that shei is going to have thel Falll Festival again this year, with possibly havinga a Mrs. Caldarelli questioned what repairs are needed at gth Street playground. Mrs. Miller stated thati it was vandalized extensively. She encouraged the public to call the police should they see suspicious activity within the parks. ChiefMann reported that the Police made arrests recently at gth Street Park. Engineer's Report: The Engineer reported that all of the road work as part oft the 2016 Road Program isc complete with the exception of Church Street. He reported that he amended the scope of Church Streets paving to eliminate thei need for scratch course asphalt, thus saving the Borough funds. Engineer Suehr also reported that he is currently working with thel Public Works Committee to establish an estimate for the 2017: Road Program. Lastly, he reported that he is working with DEP to see what permitting will be needed to make the necessary repairs to the storm sewer under the rain date. Chief Mann reported that within thej past month there has been five day-time burglaries in the Borough. He alsos stated that one was in] Harmony Township today as well. He encouraged the public to call thej police Mr. Mikulich stated that there willl be fireworks atl Panek Park on July 3rd at dusk. Mrs. Miller thanked!
