Administrator of Old Economy Village, on behalfof the Ambridge Historic District Economic Development Corporation thanked the Borough Council for Lights to Merchant Street within thel Historic District this year. He updated Council on the progress being made on thel Feasibility Studyt to save the Harmonist Society's Bachelor's Quarters at 284 13th Street. He stated that the architect has finished plans that show thej property being reused in multiple ways including a commercial space, multi-family: ands single family residences. Lastly, he stated that Old Economy Village will be offering free Ambridge Resident Passes in 2017 and the site reopens for the year on Mr. Mikulich wished everyone al Merry Christmas and thanked the Public Works Department and Borough Electrician, Tom Patrician for their efforts to install the new Christmas Lights along Merchant Street and Christmas adding April 1*. decorate the town for the upcoming holidays. She also stated that the current operations ofCodel Enforcement: have been working well with both the Public Safety: Mrs. Drewnowski reported that thel Public Safety Committee met on December 8, 2016, present included: ChiefMann, Chief Gottschalk, Mr. McCoy, Mr. Dunn, Mayor D'Ambrosio, Firefighters and Office Staff! handling code related complaints. and herself. She reported thati ini regards to the Police Department: 6 (a) There have been over 70 Heroin overdoses so far this yeari in the Borough. (b) There has been ai rash of cars broken into, but thel Police Department has identified the person (c) Chiefl Mann reminded everyone that this is thet time ofy year that purse snatchings, vehicle break-ins and bank robberies occur most. He asked everyone toj please be aware ofy your responsible and a warrant is out forl his arrest, and; surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the Police. Mrs. Drewnowski reported thati in regards to the Firel Department: The AFDI has received a $1,200 Fire Prevention Grant from FM Global Insurance Company. This brings the total grants received this year toi four with a total of$30,000 received. Curbside Leaf Collection concluded. December 9th, leaves and yard waste will now have tol be The new roof on the Borough Building has been completed, inspected by the architect, and 20- Crew put up Christmas decorations and decorated the Borough Building, PJ Caul Park, Merchant Street between 4" and gth Streets, Merchant Street in the Historic District andt the small parklet Ongoing maintenance has been dedicated to filling pot-holes and repairs to alleys. Public Works: Mr. Cafarelli reported on the following: bagged for pickup. year warranty paperwork is on filei in the Manager'so office. next to thel Magistrates office. Equipment Maintenance: A new battery has been installed in the street-sweeper. The sweeper has been winterized andi is now stored: in the fires station for the winter months. Chevy Colorado Pickup has beeni inspected and oil changed. Sign maintenance is on-going, replacing missing signs and repairing damaged locations. Foreman responded, marked and reported multiple PA-One Call requests. Parks: Noi report. Engineer's Report: Engineer Suehr reported that he has recently completed the plans for the 2017 Road! Program. He stated that he will have copies of the plans for thel Road Committee to review. The Engineer also reported that he has received aj proposal for $3,100 to complete core sampling to finalize the 20171 Road Program project specifications. Mr. Suehr updated Council on the needed storm water outfall repairs under the Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge; he stated thati iti remains unchanged. He also reported that the repairs to the gtha and Maplewood catch-basin project and the Borough Building Roof Replacement Project are both complete. He updated Council that he reviewed some settling behind 9591 Hazel Avenue this] past month and that he provided the Manager with Merchant Street maps for the upcoming Streetscape Project. Lastly, he thanked the members of Council who attended their Mr. Mikulich stated that the Borough has received six bids for the design of the Merchant Street Streetscape Project.
