Work will alsoi include upgrades tot the Borough's traffic signals along Route 65. Coupled with the eleven streets paved in 2016; Mr. Mikulich stated that the road work planned: for 2017 will total over 25 road segments reconstructed in the community for over $2,000,000 inj public investment in under two years. Borough Manager Kauer explained that the proposed Line Item' Transfer allows fore eight additional hours of Code Enforcement per week and adds to thel Borough's Contingencyl Fund. Motion to authorize the submission of CDBG Grant Applications to the Beaver County Community Development Program, Priority 1 is application seeking $124,1201 for reconstruction of Storm-water Outfall 7 and 8, and Priority 2 is application seeking $43,602.50 for 6"h and Melrose Municipal Parking Lot) Improvements. The Borough Manager explained that Priority 2i is thej public parking lot at the corner of6" andl Melrose Avenue, across from Sts' Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. He stated that thel Borough received grant funding this year to demolish the condemned building that is adjacent to this lot. This grant project would expand thej parking lot to the area of the now condemned structure. Thel Borough Manager explained that this intern if funded would cost $2,400, with the Historic District paying half, it would costt the Borough approximately $1,200 from the General Fund Contingency line-item. Thei intern would developa marketing strategy to attract new business and patrons to our existing businesses ini the Historic District and) Downtown area. Firefighters / Code Officers are working out well, they attended al Property Maintenance Code class on 2/1/17 in Monroeville. (a) Four Commercial Occupancy Permits were issued this month for new businesses ini the community including: al Health Care Service Store at 5681 Merchant, Signature Flagsa at 510/518 Merchant St, Beaver County Pathways at 10981 Kennedy. Dr, and Muscles Gymat (c). Fire Chief cited the property owner: at 717: 22nd Street for the ongoing exterior property (e) Firefighters all had multiple court hearings this month for Codei issues, new Firefighters/ Code Officers have attended hearings with them to learn howt the courts work. Public Safety: Mrs. Drewnowski reported that the Ambridge Firel Department: received a $26,000 grant for fire equipment from the State. She also stated that the new pumper is expected to be delivered in the next week and the new Police Cruiser is expected tol bei in-service by mid-March. She also commented onl how well the new. Firefighter/C Code Officers are working. She also highlighted the following: 421 10th Street. maintenance issues. (d) Rental Inspections are ongoing (b) 24 Code Violation Notices were sent out for Ordinance Violations Public Works: Mr. Cafarelli reported the following: were chipped in the DPW Yard by the crew. Christmas Treel Recycling concluded the first week of] February, all trees that were collected Crew took down all oft the Christmas decorations in town andj placed them in storage. DPWI has made 13 extra road barricades for road closures and parades. Assisted the Firel Department- repainted the parking lines within the Firehouse. Ongoing maintenance has been dedicated to filling pot-holes and repairs to alleys. Crew has been busy with multiple snow call-outs; treating streets andj public sidewalks. Equipment. Maintenance: Bucket Truck had its electrical inverter replaced. F-5501 Dump Truck was inspected, truck needed ball-joints, brakes andi its F-3501 Pickup Truck was inspected, needed al bulbi replaced F-1501 Pickup Truck was inspected, didn'tneed anything Sign maintenance: is on-going, replacing missing signs and repairing damaged. locations. Foreman responded, marked and reported multiple PA-One Call requests. Parks: Mrs. Miller reported that thel Public Works Department willl bej preparing the parks for the season very soon. She also stated thats shel has been working with the Chamber of Commerce on the 20171 Falll Festival of Churches and that the group is looking for volunteers to help with this year's Mrs. Miller also reported that the Committee is discussing about applying for park grants this yeart to Mr. Mikulich stated that on February: 3rd both he and thel Manager met with the architect for the Streetscape Project. Hes stated that the project is on track tol have design completed this year with construction tol be done in 2018 and last six months. His goal is tol have the project completed and lights lit for Christmas 2018. He thanked Council and Mayor for working together to make this Engineer's! Report: Engineer Suehr reported that the 2017 Road Program is ready to go out tol bid. He also stated that he routinely monitors the conditions at Storm-sewer Outfall) No. 7 and 8, andt that thel Borough is still waiting on DEP approval to complete the necessary repairs.
