Borough Council was called to order at 7:00PM within Council Chambers of the Ambridge Borough Building, 600 11" Street. Pledge of Allegiance Presentations- - Borough Council and Mayor presented a Certificate of Commendation recognizing Firefighter Robert Charlovich for his life saving achievements on November 12, 2017 where he and fellow Conway Firefighters rescued ai motorist: from a burning wrecked car on Interstate 80 in northern Pennsylvania. 1. Citizen's Participation On/Off Agenda Items (5 minutes per speaker) Mr. Tom] Friend, 511 Merchant Street, stated that he believes therei is a traffic problem in the 300 block of] Duss Avenue alongside the Creekside Springs Water Plant. He stated that the trailers are parked against traffic, with the fronts oft the trailers facing on-coming traffic. Mr. Friend stated that ass such, there are no reflectors on the front oft the trailer making them] hard tos see and ifa an accident would happen the motorist would end up under the trailer which could then be catastrophic. He suggested that Creekside Springs turn their trailers around to go witht the traffic. Mr. Louis Hassen, 3461 Maplewood Avenue, expressed concerns he has with the construction at the Iron] Horse Theater at 3481 Maplewood. Avenue; specifically their recently constructed: new handicap ramp and their front façade. Hes stated that the ramp is not to construction standards, causes adverse conditions such asi ice onl his sidewalk and it restricts the size of the front sidewalk on Maplewood Avenue. He also stated that thei front façade violates local codes as well. The Manager informed Mr. Hassen that the Building Inspector reviewed the property this week and that he will forward his 2. findings tol him. She reported that during a recent rental property inspection ofh her building, the firefighters found a gas leak. Mrs. Caldarelli commented that these Mrs. Caldarelli reported that 2018 Commercial Fire Inspection notices are going tol be mailed out this week and that 2018/19 Rental Registration Forms willl be going out soon as well. Public Safety: Mr. Mikulich and Lt. Hes stated that he lives inl Moon Township, graduated from thel Beaver County Police. Academy, works full-time for thel Moon Township Water Authority and stated that he is grateful tol be given this position and looks forward to Patrolman Austin Turner introduced! himselft to the community. Hes stated that he lives in Leetsdale, graduated from Quaker Valley High School, serves as a Military Police Officer in the U.S.. Army Reserves and graduated from the Indiana University ofPA Police Academy. He thanked the citizens Mr. Flannery reported that he has met with thel Fire Chief and the conversation was very informative. He also stated that he willl be meeting with the Police Chiefi in the next two weeks. serving the community. and Council for the opportunity to serve the Borough. Public Works: No report. Parks: Mrs. Miller reported that the Borough was awarded a $74,000 grant to make improvements to both gth Street and Panek Parks. Work includes reconstruction oft the basketball courts atl Panek Park and at gth Street there will be new playground equipment, a newi picnic shelter and ADA: swings and accessible routes. She stated that this is the second grant for this project, now giving us $174,000 to Mrs. Miller stated that the Committee will be meeting shortly to finalize the design of the park. Mr. Mikulich reported that last month the Borough received a grant ini the amount of$1,500,000.00 for thel Merchant Street Streetscape Project. He also stated that thel Borough ended 2017 with a surplus, the first time ini recent history. He thanked all Departments and Council for working together tos stay within budget. Mr. Mikulich stated that the surplus willl be used tol help rebuild thel Borough's make these improvements now with 100% grant funding. reserves.
