He stated that two months ago there was an accident involving one oft the trailers. ChiefGottschalk. stated that thei incident was a DUI driver that was running from the police who then struck one of the trailers. Mr. Friend asked ifany action willl be taken? Hes stated that he feels thei ramp: is not constructed to code and is as source ofi ice on his sidewalk. He also stated that he is getting litter in his yard from the theater-goers. He also stated that the Borough is maintaining the vacant house next tol his, but do not cut the hedges. He stated they should cut the service on the Zoning] Hearing Board. Borough Council. Codel Enforcement Committee: Mrs. Caldarelli reported that Chief Gottschalk; presented an excellent report highlighting the outstanding work done this year by our firefighters performing code enforcement duties. She questioned thel Fire Chief on the status ofthel Knox Boxj program. Chief Gottschalk stated that threel businesses now have Knox Boxes within the Borough. 2. Public Safety: Mr. Flannery reported that he is working with the Police Chief on conducting a survey oft the officers and elected officials regarding crime and law enforcement within the community. He also stated that Chief Gottschalk willl be reporting an annual report on the Fire Chief Romutis stated there has been ai rash of car break-ins in the northeast section oft thel Borough. He stated that is has been mostly criminal mischiefa and thes same issues have been found in Ambridge, Baden, Harmony and Bell Acres. The Chiefs stated that] Harmony Townshipl Police recently arrested two juveniles who are suspected for these crimes. Since their arrest, the issues have ceased. The Chief also stated that he reinstated crime mapping andi invited everyone to review the data in the Police Department at the January meeting. Station. 8 3. Public Works: Mr. Cafarelli reported that the Committee met on Monday, December 10, present was himself, Mayor Drewnowski, Joel Kauer and Ted Eberhardt. Hes stated the following was 1. Snowl Removal: first callout for the season was on November 16th. The Crewl has also placed two salt orders this month andi is well stocked going into. January. Trucks are ready as well. 2. 11"St. Street-Sweeping: committee discussed the matter again; it was discussed that the street sweeper will sweep this street if cars are moved on the same days thati it sweeps lower 11th Street. 3. Sign Work- discussed having a uniform height on all signs within the Borough. discussed: 4. The following was also discussed: LeafCollection is wrapping up: fort the year, the crewi is running one additional week through this Friday, December 14". Thej program started on October22nd. Christmas Celebration: Prep, the crew completed the following: Decorated thel Borough Building (inside and out) Decorated PJ Caul Park, Merchant Street in thel Midtown and Historic Districts Put up and decorated the Treei in the Gazebo at PJ Caul Park Cleaned upl Merchant Street and Historic District for Christmas in the Village and on Electrician has switched out multiple burnt out streetlights and traffic signal bulbs, and he also Trucks are ready fors snow removal (salt spreaders are in and trucks are ready) 5-Ton Dump - hydraulic connectors for snow equipment was replaced at Zarin's Street sweeper has been winterized andi is stored within the Fire Station: for winter. Sign maintenance is on-going, replacing missing signs and repairing damaged locations. Ongoing maintenance! has been dedicated to filling pot-holes and repairs toi multiple alleys. O 11" and Merchant - sidewalk and catch basin was repaired under on December: 3r4, via ani insurance claim where ai motorist struck and damaged the sign post, walk and Merchant Street. Equipment Maintenance: hung the Season's Greetings lighted banner over 11"h Street. Equipment Service. catch-basin box. Foreman responded, marked and reported multiple PA-One Call requests. Mayor Drewnowski informed the public that glass will continue tol be recycled as part oft the Borough's curbside recycling program; other communities are discontinuing the recycling of glass. Mr. Mikulich stated that the streetscape construction project willl be shutting down for the winter on Chiefl Romutis complimented the Public Works crew, stated that Merchant Street in the Historic 4. Parks: Mrs. Miller expressed appreciation tol Mr. Dunn for his Christmas activates and decorations on his house and neighbors on Maplewood Avenue. She thanked him for what he does for the children of our community. Mr. Dunn stated that this is1 his 10th year collecting for St.. Jude's Children's Hospital at Christmas time andi in that time has collected over $40,000 fort thel hospital. 5. Engineer's Report: Engineer Suehr reported that thej park projecti is nearing completion. He highlighted that thei fencing and benches at thel Panek Parkl Basketball Courts havel beeni installed and thej playset is constructed at gth Street Park. He stated that pending work consists oft the concrete ramp at gth Street and sealing and line painting at Panek Park.
