CALLTOORDER/ROLLCALL Mayor Medina called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. in Council Chambers. Mayor Medina, Deputy Mayor Blossom, and Councilmembers Peltier, Nassar, Tirman, and Scott were Commissioner Lee Cross and legal counsel Rob Cousins attended on behalf oft the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District. Fire ChiefHank Teran, Assistant Fire ChiefLuke Carpenter, and Assistant Fire Chief Jared Moravec, attended on behalf of the Bainbridge Island Fire Department present. Councilmember Deets arrived at 6:35 p.m. 2. - COUNCIL DISCUSSION (NO PUBLIC COMMENT) A. Ordinance No. 2018-01 (Formerly Ordinance No. 2017-17) Relating to Critical Areas, Repealing Chapter 16.20 and Adopting a New Chapter 16.20 of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Senior Planner Carr provided a presentation on the Critical Areas Ordinance. Council discussed the Native Council discussed requests from thel Fire Department to reduce wild fire risk. There was consensus for staff tol look at incorporating the Fire Departments request for requiring defensible space around homes and Commissioner Lee Cross summarized the Park District's concerns with the NVPA. There was consensus for Mayor Medina adjourned the meeting fora a break at 8:28 p.m. and re-convened the meeting at 8:41 p.m. Council reviewed proposed changes to the ordinance. Council directed staff to incorporate all changes except the changes identified by Council fori further discussion. The changes numbered 1,27,30, and31 were identified for further discussion. Mayor Medina asked Council to identify any additional changes Code, AB 17-135 - Planning 6:40 p.m. Vegetation Protection Area (NVPA). clarifying liability. staff to work with the Park District on possible exemptions fori further discussion. requiring further discussion to Senior Planner Carr following the meeting. Mayor Medina described the next steps in the process, including a public workshop. 3.
