BOROUGH OF AMBRIDGE Council Meeting: November 12, 2019 Ambridge Borough Building MINUTES Executive Session - Legal and Personnel Matters The November 12, 2019 meeting of Ambridge Borough Council was called to order at 6:30PM within Council Chambers of the Ambridge Borough Building, 600 11th Street. Citizen's Participation On/Off Agenda Items (5 minutes per speaker) 1. Ms. Cathy Holler, 824 11th Street, expressed concerns about speeding motorists on 11th Street between Lenz Avenue and Beaver Road. She also questioned if tree grates were going to be installed on Merchant Street. The Manager stated that they were noti in the plans to be installed. The Mayor and Chief of Police stated that they will investigate her speeding concerns. Mayor Drewnowski reported that there were three drug busts this month, one includinga a significant heroin confiscation. He stated that the use of the SWAT team during the raids are sending a positive message to drug dealers that their actions will not bet tolerated. The Mayor also stated that tips are being acted upon and thanked the community for staying involved. Public' Works: Mr. Cafarelli reported: Curbside leaf collection started on Monday, October 21st. Please pile your leaves in neat piles ati the curb-line, do not park on top of your leaves. Program runs through Grass Cutting is wrapping upi for the year at Borough Properties, Parks, Rights of Park Maintenance: fixed the dugout roof at Panek Park and added topsoil and grass seed to the football field to remove ruts. Water to all park restroom facilities and drinking fountains have been turned off for the season and winterized. Onel DPW employee worked the Tire Collection Event on 10/7/19 - 244 tires Street Light Blitz on October 16th, crew patrolled the entire town and logged 69 street lights out, placed ribbon on each pole toi identify the out light and the office reported again to Duquesne Light. The Light Company was int town last week and fixed all of Catch basin repairs: crew rebuilt the following catch basins - 3rd & Maplewood, 400 block of Locust St., Pine & Ivy, 6th & Maplewood, andi fixed a collapsed section of Electrician replaced burnt out street lights on Church Street andi is working on December 6th. Sign maintenance is on-going, replacing missing signs and repairing damaged locations. Took down the street sweeping signs on streets that are no longer swept. Air Force 1 plane and that the new! hanger for the new plane is being made with steel from Sippel Steel here in Ambridge. He stated that thisi is great for Ambridge, something we should be proud about. 5 Mr. Mikulich stated that the Troop Banners will be coming down for the year and will go up in advance of Memorial Day 2020. He stated that there are many Christmas events coming up next Mr. Cafarelli reminded everyone that Coffee with a Cop is tonight, following the meeting, at the Mrs. Cafarelli requested Council to schedule a Coffee with Council event in the next month. Mr. Mikulich stated that the US Census Bureau is hiring workers for the 2020 Census. He stated that employment opportunities will be posted ont the message board in the hallway. Mrs. Caldarelli reported that retired Police K9 Hector passed away recently. She expressed her condolences to Officer Chickos and his family. Officer Chickos, who was in the audience, stated that he appreciated all the community support. He stated that K9 Hector passed away peacefully.
