Demorest The Hearl ofHabersham City of Demorest City Council Meeting Work Session Minutes Demorest. Municipal Building Thursday, December 8 2022, 6:00P.M.  ATTENDEES  Shawn Allen, Councilman John Hendrix, Councilman Jerry Harkness, Mayor Andrew Ferguson, Councilman  Thomas Mitchell, City Attorney Megan Chastain, Interim City Clerk  The December 8, 2022, Demorest Work Session was held in the Demorest Municipal Building located at  125 Ivy Street.  AGENDA ITEM1: INVOCATION AGENDA ITEM 2: CALL1 TOORDER  Mayor Harkness opened the meeting by leading in prayer. Mayor Harkness called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Mayor Harkness announced that Ms. Simonds has stepped down from the City Manager role,  AGENDA ITEM 3: CONSIDERATION OF DISPOSITION OF THE PRISONV VAN  Council asked to table this agenda item.  AGENDA ITEM 4: CONSIDERATION OF PLANS OF ODE  Mayor Harkness presented the draft plans received from Franklin Designs. Ms. Simonds and Councilman Hendrix met with the designer two weeks ago and spoke about updating the outside of the building as well as moving City Hall to the South Wing (library) temporarily until we have more money to move City Hall down the hall. Mrs. Chastain presented two quotes received from ACG in reference to moving the AGENDA ITEM 5: CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION TO OPEN OPIOID SETTLEMENT ACCOUNT Mr. Mitchell presented a resolution to open the account fort the Opioid Settlement. AGENDA ITEM 6: CONSIDERATION OF LICENSE FEE ORDINANCE  cabling and security from City Halli to the new location.  Mayor and Council revied the Insurance License Fee Ordinance that has to be voted on every year.  1Page    AGENDA ITEM7: CONSIDERATION OF STREET REPAIR: 2023 LMIG  Mrs. Chastain announced the deadline to submit the application is February 1, 2023. Council spoke to  table this item until. January.  AGENDA ITEM 8: GDOT EASEMENT: THE WALL  Mayor Harkness said that GDOT indicated 'the wall" is out for bid and they need an easement from the  city.  AGENDA ITEM 9: FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS/ENTENTERTAINMENT)  Mayor Harness presented the Pyrotecnico contract. Ms. Lyn Percy asked that council consider the noiseless fireworks for veterans, first responders, animals etc. Mayor Harkness agreed to call and get a price. Mayor Harkness asked council to authorize him to sign the contract and communicate with  Pyrotecnico.  The Work Session adjourned at 6:25p.gh.
