NEW BUSINESS 1.V-23-05: A request for a variance from Sec. 23-601 of Chapter 23 (Zoning Code) of the Code of Ordinances to permit an accessory structure to be closer than five feet from to a property line for the property located at 3439. Alison Drive. (First Read) Chris Eldridge, City Manager, presented the variance V-23-05 and V-23-06 (item two on (Public. Hearing) the agenda). One public hearing was held for both items. No one spoke in favor or against the variances presented. There were no comments from the mayor and council. The property owner clarified the measurements of the shed from the property line. This item will come back to the next planning meeting in August. 2. REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS 1.City Manager Monthly Update The City Manager provided his monthly report to the City Council. Mayor Geierman announced there would not be a meeting on Wednesday (July 19, 2023). 3 XII. COUNCIL COMMENTS Council Member Henshaw stated the staff has been doing a great job even though we are short staffed. He spoke acknowledged the Doraville Difference Makers and the impact one person can Council Member Evans congratulated Austin Shelton on his promotion to Director of Planning and Community Development, thanked the staff and police, and said farewell to the City Clerk. He also welcomed the other new hires and commented that this is a great place to work. He was also happy Council Member Koontz spoke regarding the value the General Obligation Bond can have on the community. She has been watching the other cities use these bonds to do some great things to kick start their communities. She hopes the residence see the importance oft the bond to the future ofthe Council Member Alexander wanted to recognize the Park and Recreation Department. She acknowledged the council had recognized them at the previous meeting. But the Parks and Recreation has been energized and has some great energy under the current leadership. Itisa a big Council Member Simmons thanked the Parks and Recreation for the programs they are providing this summer. To the Public Works Department for being out in the heat this summer and to the Police Department for their work tol keep the city safe. He also thanked the Council Members and Mayor, even with their diverse opinions for being easy to work with and for being respectful. have on the community.
