UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1.V23-05, 06-1 Variances to permit a shed to be closer than 51 feet to a property line, and toj permit a fence taller than 61 feeti in a residential area, at 3439 Alison Drive. Austin Shelton, Director of Planning and Community Development, provided a summary ofthe variances requested by the applicant for those in attendance. The applicant provided ab briefhistory regarding his request and made himself available for questions. Council members were given an opportunity to make statements and ask questions. The City Council Member Koontz made the motion, Council Member Alexander seconded, to approve variance 23-05. The motion carried by unanimous vote (5-0). AYES/ YES: Evans, Simmons, Alexander, Henshaw, and Koontz Council took the variances separately. NAYS/NO: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: Yeoman Council Member Koontz made the motion, Council Member Alexander seconded to deny variance 23-06. There was additional discussion between the Council and staff. The motion carried to deny the variance (3-1-1). Mayor Geierman opened the Public Hearing asking for anyone who wished to speak in favor and later in opposition to the amendment to Chapter 23 (Zoning Ordinance). COUNCIL COMMENTS Council Member Alexander asked for someone to hold up the award the city received for New Peachtree Road design. She thanked everyone on the city council and staff for shepherding this to Council Member Simmons thanked the interim city clerk for stepping in, congratulated Austin Shelton since he was gone last time, and told the city manager he was doing a great job calling roll. Council Member Yeoman mentioned to the public and to the city manager regarding whyl he voted against the zoning and variances at 4422 Northeast Expressway. He felt that at every time they came before the council, they skirted around what they were going to do. The applicant acknowledged today that they were not going toj put enough money into the facility to bring it up to code. His comment to the city was ifwe needed tol hire a consultant fori items like this then we should.
